Timing belt replacement, crank pin hole diameter

Post by David_CH »

Hi !

i've asked an official Peugeot reseller how much it will cost to replace my timing belt. Answer : 1500 chf (= 1395 eur = 1177 gbp)

It's a little more than my actual budget, so i'll try to do it myself. It's not rocket science if i follow the important security things like the locking of the crank and cam pulleys.

I can build the pins myself with a lathe, but i have to measure the holes first.
So i am asking here if someone has already done that before me, to build the pins necessary for the job, or if i can find this information on the service manual.

Btw, my engine is a EW10J4

I bet you could drive to Poland, have a bit of a holiday there and have the belt changed all for less than that.

You should be able to buy a set of pins quite cheaply, e.g. here, in the UK

This shows the dimensions of the crank pin:

You might want to do the tensioner rollers too whilst at it.

Does the timing belt retaining clip is essential ? or i can use a plastic tie strap to keep it in position ?
