Peugeot 107 power steering control module

Post by michael maurice »

Can anyone tell me where the power steering electronic control module is on a Peugeot 107 (06 plate) and how to remove it?

I'm afraid I can't help with the location, except to say that Service Citroen has the ECU on the same diagram as the rack suggesting it's located above the rack... What I will say though is, why do you need to remove it? Have you conclusive proof that it's faulty? Only, I've recently been looking into the EPS on my mum's car which is also an '06 107 (on 24k miles) and there were numerous inconsistencies with the amperage draw measurements in Diagbox and occasional limp mode with the only fault listed as being a speed sensor associated with the EPS ECU.

In that case I believe it was the vehicle's original battery beginning to fail (after 14 years!) and causing the fault.

On the 107 with electronic Power Steering, the ECU is actually located in the upper dashboard Dan :-D . Citroen only show the ECU as an associated part on the diagram near the rack - in reality it is in the dashboard. The upper dashboard has to be removed to access it, and be aware any work on the power steering drive train will require the steering torque sensor to be recalibrated afterwards.

The battery is nearly new and the diagnosis has been made by an auto electrician who tells me the battery and alternator are fine.

Thank you to GiveMeaBreak for his advice.

Aha, thanks for pointing that out Marc :D I had a feeling near the rack was a strange place to locate a sensitive ECU. How do I access the actual layout like you have, is that the paid subscription part of Service Citroen?

Does the auto electrician have Diagbox? I know these do have a history of EPS issues (mainly the Aygo badged version from what I've read though, at around 24-25k) but would be interested to know what symptoms you have and what codes he's found please, for possible future reference as much as to hopefully help out here.

To be fair Dan, some are actually mounted on the steering rack so are easier to access.
