C5 X7 2.7HDi Air conditioning evaporator

Post by chris_reade »

Would appreciate some help in sourcing a new evaporator for my C5 Tourer. Had a catastrophic failure in the evaporator box, apparently. I (and my mechanic) am having trouble locating a replacement, other than Citroen. Does anybody have any ideas please? Cheers, Chris.

Just to be clear as terminology is often confused:- are you referring to the evaporator housing or the actual condenser drier unit (radiator)?

So if it is the condenser, Citroen offer a cheaper alternative for cars >3 years: Part number: 1610161580, £271.46 inc. VAT from Citroen.

However, just Google "Citroen 1610161580" for plenty of aftermarket options.

Hi Marc, it's definately the evaporator unit under the dashboard. The dye used to locate the leak came out through the drain holes under the car. Dashboard removal required I understand. That's if we can locate an evaporator!

Unfortunately I can't locate a separate part number for the evaporator alone, item (6)
Evaporator X7.PNG
(1) Air blower .
(2) Distribution flaps.
(3) Heating resistor (Depending on the versions).
(4) heater matrix.
(5) Mixing flaps.
(6) Air conditioning evaporator.

Sourced a used evaporator box from Bart Ebben. Around 300€ delivered. Installed and all working properly. Glad I didn't have to do it myself though!
