I have finally ventured forth with tool box at hand for the first time with serious intent to perfect my Citroen C5 X7.
The first thing i was intended sorting was the Cabin fan being permanently on high without ability to adjust. This Heater control module i found easy enough to find and remove. I did a few resistance checks between the new and the old, but the readings i got where between 1 & 4 pins new 10k ohms, old 9k ohms. So not really convinced something is wrong with original. As i have not got access to Sedre thanks to windows 10 pro going wrong. So, i was hoping to get some figures off you good folk as i do not want to blow a new motor control unit. I want to know voltages and other test i can do first.
secondly, i decided to change the cabin filter while i was there, but something looks wrong to?
Do you agree can you see the error or is it me,
Note the arrows of the original filter prior to me removing it. I am of the opinion that the arrows should point in the direction of the air flow. That said the assumption by me is that the air flow is from front to rear of the car. As the air enters through the grille by the windscreen wipers, then enters the filter then out into the cabin (basically)
now i've seem to got so idea of photos posting, look at this don't think this could be the cause of the smell in the car, especially as the fan has been stuck on full flow since i bought it.

Re: Addendum to Long List of Questions
That's one of the worst I've seen to be honest. Yes it will cause bad smells - as don't forget the decaying leaves and dead bugs will also add their contribution.
Have a look at my filter when it came out - mine wasn't as black as yours, but had a fair amount of crud. Don't forget to hoover out the compartment before putting a new one back in.

As for the filter direction - no it is correctly inserted. If you read the info under the arrows it says 'Driving Direction' not air flow direction Haych, so it is correct.

Re: Addendum to Long List of Questions
Yes, so idiot proof:- air flow is always front to rear and driving direction always forward (excluding reverse )

Re: Addendum to Long List of Questions
No, you are not an idiot, as you checked that what you were doing was correct (or not). There are no such things as stupid questions, but stupid, avoidable mistakes do exist.
