I've previously noticed this thread in passing, but only last night stopped to read it all the way through.

This was prompted by spotting one of the boxes, the 753 at Glen Dye, a couple of weeks ago.

I hadn't noticed or remembered it before, though to be fair the last time I passed it in that direction would have been in 2006, about half past midnight.

But my lack of observation continues. On my recent visit I must have also driven past the Cambus o' May box, a dozen times in a week, without noticing it in the dark.

Andy, If you do manage to pass it again...dont...pull over get your camera out and add it to our merry little collection. All the better for capturing the mode of transport...(doesnt have to be french) or that phenonemon of our times the selfie. Nearest to a selfie I will get is our Labrador in the shot!

I did a little video montage of the first spotters, minus our unclaimed 19th box at Trinity Jersey.

Ok, next time ...

Well, at least someone had been there before.

If I'd discovered the first visit to tick the list was still awaited, I don't think I've have dared post here.

Well, on "Great British Car Journeys" AA Box 289 (Devil's Bridge) made a guest appearance.

I've just read through this thread again. The thing that amazes me personally is how I used to go for aimless runs in first the activa and then in gabby. For some reason I havent done that for ages. I wonder if it is due to me having a thoroughly boring car in the Leon dsg? I mean it's a good car, 100% reliable and dependable but just doesnt say get in to me and drive for fun. Nor does the c1, it's not comfortable enough for me doing long journeys, brilliant for the stop start nature of my work though. I think I need to go car shopping, a xantia v6 would suffice lol

And even look at the family's cars. They are all the same! Seal leon mk2, seat leon mk3, pug 107, c1, c1 and if I could mention the one left out, my son in laws golf tdi, read leon again! It really is time I had a proper french again, not these toyoat/daihatsu in disguise!

Excellent post Davie. Ever tempted by the classics? Morris Leslie at Errol nr Perth have classic auctions throughout the year, last one just happened yesterday. Posted up the catalogue on the classics thread, and picked out something French :-D . Bit further up the classics thread is a nice low milage red Xantia appearing at Mathewsons Auction, North Yorks in December.

As someone once said (allegedly) "Life's too short for boring cars"
Sitting here on the train back to London (for the 1st time in over a year) makes me miss the C15 already - & it only died on me on the way back from Devon last Sunday - it's just so much more fun! Logically, the Xantia would be the better choice but, for all its attributes, it was swiftly relegated to family hack.

I notice that a PC Reader has asked for pics of AA Boxes, so will be dropping him a mail, with a link...

After seeing the pictures of a flooded Crickhowell in Wales on the news today and on the front pages tomorrow, just up the A40 at the junction with the A479, you can see the proximity of the River Usk in the background, wouldn't be surprised if one of our 19 was inundated with floodwater today :-D

As briefed by Neil I found the box in the Lake District and duly submit a french car with it entry:

Excellent work Mick. I thought that would be one of the boxes I would be sure to get fairly quickly when the thread kicked off a few years ago now, but havent been past it since :-D Havent been over to the Lakes in the leccy car yet, but it is coming up to the time when the lakes for me are at their best, when the autumn colours arrive, particularly round Keswick and Borrowdale. Some excellent views to be had from Latrigg, and the famous Ashness Bridge and Surprise View.
