Crikey, you've go to be quick, how old does an 'old post' have to be? In the evening about 2 hours?

If you are talking about the "new posts" search, it finds posts that have been made since you were last active on the forum, which (due to the way phpBB sessions work) can be an hour or two if you are a habitual user.

I generally recommend not using the "New Posts" search, I use the "active Topics" search, new posts are obvious in this search because the topic icons are red rather than grey.

Cheers for that, I thought, 'new' meant recent to all, not just to me. Active topics it is then. Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for that tip. I'll be using Active Topics from now on as it helps to keep track of previously read posts.

It is 'old' the moment you have read it, antique when you have read it twice, ancient when you have read it five times, prehistoric when you have read it ten times, and kick starting the Big Bang when you read it twenty times!

Does that help? :D

The simple way to not miss anything, while avoiding reading the same posts again and again...
  • Click on the the Active Topics button at the top of the screen
  • The results page will have some topic icons that are pink and some that are grey
  • Ignore the grey ones, because you have already read the latest post in that topic. (If you click the grey icons, it will take you to the last post in the topic)
  • Click on a pink topic icon, and it will take you to the first post that you have not yet read in the topic

Can't help thinking this is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist - or am I missing something?
