I'll have a look shortly Corne. When you have time, can you confirm your C6 as the one with VIN ending 948? I had a few down for you when you were deciding on which one to get.

It's taking me some time (in between other things) because it involves removing the fuel rail and the fuel filter / filter housing......

I got the cover off. It wasn’t easy at all. But it was there in my face so I got it off eventually. Didn’t have to take off the filterhousing. My question now is. The engine is locked on the flywheel and the camshafts. I can now remove the high pressure pump belt. But do you have to lock the high pressure pump in place of can you just remove the belt and tensioner and replace it?

Yes, it does Corne:

Slacken the bolt (12).
Drive the dynamic tensioner ( 13) at "b" (clockwise) ; Using a 5 mm dia. drift.
Line up the hole " a" with the slot "c".
Immobilise the dynamic roller tensioner ( 13) with a 4 mm dia. pin.

CAUTION : If the high pressure fuel pump drive belt is to be reused, mark its direction of fitting.

Remove:

• The (12) bolt
• The dynamic roller tensioner (13)
• The fuel high pressure pump drive belt ( 14)

I am now in the process of replacing the waterpump and use new Citroen coolant. The coolant in the car’s system had a red hue to it. The Citroen coolant is blue.

I drained the EGR units. The gearbox oil cooler. The coolant header tank. And now with the waterpump out. The water in that part of the engine. Now my worry is. Do I still have to loosen the block drain plugs? And also. The heater radiator matrix. Do I have to locate the two pipes leading into and out of the Heatermatrix and blow air through it? I am trying my best to drain the whole system of coolant. Its way more difficult than one would think due to the myriad of bent coolant hoses

Can you just flush it with fresh water a few times until it is clear of the old coolant. A little residual water won't do any harm.

The red colour probably indicates OAT long life coolant and blue is probably non-organic IAT. These two types shouldn't be mixed as they cause a sludge which can block up waterways. I would flush the system as Steve suggests and then use OAT anti-freeze.

Thanks Steve. I will do it that way. Will just try to get the coolant out of the heater matrix.

Paul. I think you are right. But I will include a photo of the coolant I bought at the dealership. I will do some research before I call quits on the ‘new’ coolant before I look for the red OAT.

Something I have noticed. My C4 of 2004 and C5 of 2001 still got the original coolant in them and it’s colourless. Weird. Guess the C6 was most likely changed before

If you're keeping the car then you want the best coolant you can get with the longest lasting inhibitors. That will be an OAT (or its successor) anti-freeze.

Doubt I will sell the C6. So the Citroen coolant is no good then, such a shame. Did see an OAT TOTAL coolant, will check it out
