Apologies if this has been covered before, but is there actually any difference between Total Fluide DA and Total fluide LDS ? ....apart from the label on the bottle and the fact that one is cheaper than the other ! They both share the same PSA spec number, they both share the same characteristics, they both share the same properties, they even share the same colour. Are they - perhaps - related ?

Total are not going to say they are the same since they produce both - the LDS for the hydraulic systems and the DA fluid as a power steering fluid for the steel sprung C5s. But since they share the same spec. number, it would be fair to assume that they are identical.
If one fluid fits the spec for both jobs, why would they produce two?
OTOH, if the spec changes in future (more likely for DA than for LDS now), they can reformulate accordingly without it causing confusion.
Just returned from France, where I attempted to buy a litre of LDS fluid. The Citroen workshop/dealer produced the DA fluid and assured me it's what they use now. I did query it but the manager was adamant - that's what they're using now. Their price was the same as it had been for LDS, i.e. about £15.30 (€19.65).
Some of it is now in the '06 C5 2.0HDI.
I had not heard of this fluid before, but a search on here produced this thread, so hope this is of some use.

I got the last litre from Motosave. Going back this week they had a proprietary brand (can't remember name, grey bottle) it was labeled up DA fluid for Citroen's. a
Anyone used it?...... I didn't risk it, worrying about incompatible mix.
Omg guys it's I'm so happy to finally find what I tried to figured it out for 3 days... I get a Citroen C4 from 2005 and I just change my power steering pump.. but the things is I didn't know what kind of liquid I suppose to use for.. so I used the fluid DA and I saw a lot of people says Total Lds is the one I have to use for my car.. but the things is I already topped up with the DA.. I now for 3 days after been on how many french websites. Try to know if it dangerous to keep this one... I finally got my answer in a UK website... I'm so happy to finally know Fluid DA=LDS thx guys I owe you one
Just for clarification on this subject for all the previous posters as to the difference - none! These are the specification sheets. Total Fluide LDS has been renamed Total Fluide DA from about 2008. Colour is the same Steve. PSA specification is the same for both fluids: PSA S71 2710
Specification Sheets - identical:

I think it's a stock issue - my dealer has only fluid DA. Once stocks of LDS go it will only be DA and of course with no more hydraulic Citroens being produced, it makes sense for them to stick to the one label of DA which is used in a lot of PSA steering systems.
