Interesting concept, although I do take issue with a couple of aspects of it.
1) Mid seating position at the front for the driver ? It doesn't look that much narrower than my Ion (which is already one of the narrowest cars I've ever seen or been in) yet you lose one seat at the front, and then also have poor driving visibility especially for overtaking or pulling out from parallel parking. I don't think the loss of one of the front seats and a worse driving position is worth the benefit of the car being slightly narrower. The Ion has already nailed the sweet spot for "very narrow but still usable" city car IMO. It squeezes through gaps nothing else will but still seats four, even though you're nearly shoulder to shoulder...
2) I simply don't believe the claimed range. 93 miles from 12kWh is 7.75 miles/kWh - no other EV comes anywhere close to this, even at city driving speeds let alone at higher speed. In city driving with my Ion I typically get around 4-5 miles/kWh which is already considered very good. The best I have ever managed driving at a constant speed of about 40-50mph is 5.8 miles/kWh. In summer. With the heater off.
Granted they claim the car will weigh 600Kg (unladen ? Add another 200Kg for 3 passengers) which is half the weight of my 1100Kg Ion however regenerative braking means that the weight penalty of having a heavier car is greatly diminished, since it takes more energy to accelerate a heavier car (or climb a hill) but you get more regenerative energy back when you slow down or descend a hill. So it works out you only pay the penalty for about 1/3rd of any extra weight you carry.
So making the car half as heavy doesn't magically mean you'll get twice the miles/kWh... Also, the amount of energy needed to heat a cabin is proportional to the volume of the cabin not the weight of the vehicle. So while driving might not consume as much, it will still take a good amount of energy to heat the cabin in winter. Meaning that the heater will have a proportionally larger effect on the range.
So I can't take the claimed 93 miles from 12kWh seriously at all I'm afraid, unless that is purely pootling around at city speeds with one occupant in summer with the heater off...!
