I enjoyed that Tedeshi Trucks track while STMBO was watching an old episode of London's Burning which featured this performance at a talent show, which I also remember being impressed with when the show was first aired in the 90's:

I am going out on a limb now, but I did give this a try. Why?

A bit of chat between Jo Whiley and Mark Radcliffe on Wednesday. Mark Radcliffe reminisced about a summer holiday up in Scotland back in the eighties and this artist and the album which reminded him of that trip! It reached number 4 in the indie charts in July 1983.

Just to whet the appetite it is (according to wiki)..
"an instrumental collection of tone poems that describe the cycle and mirror the moods of an indolent summer day. Each of the nine tracks began with the sound effects on top of which Russell Webb would then record Virginia's improvised playing . The album is notable for its structure, moving from dawn to dusk, and its use of natural, sound effects."

From the genre "Ambient" I give you "From Gardens where we feel Secure"

I was intrigued enough to give it a try. It has something but equally a "get on your wick quality" at the same time!

Those tracks remind me of the music they use for background on e-cards from posh card sites! Now I know why. I managed 14 mins before surrendering! 50 points to anyone who can last the course. You'll have earned them

Like a bagpipe drone, the track which started off with the natural sound of the sheep Baa Baaaa ing continuing underneath the piano finished me off!

We need to move off ambient pronto! although I think I did post up a crackling fire pub ambience at some point in the PE Jukebox archive!

The world of ambiance sounds has moved on from whales Steve. You can get all sorts of interesting flavours now. This may be more appropriate for the Pickled Egg...as well as the crackling fire you get the odd clink of glasses and a general hubbub of smalltalk with the odd chuckle in the background.

I think moving off ambient would be a very good idea because I can't find my recording of The Royal Scot train journey from Euston to Edinburgh Waverley made in 1964 by a sound engineer for use in movies. It is allegedly almost 6 hours of unrelenting clickety clack interspersed with the occasional chuffing and random whistles. I've never got past 10 minutes to determine if it is a tape loop or not. You get the idea!
