Tusk pretty much passed me by, but reading about it designed purposely to be different from Rumours.

The only tracks which I am familiar with are predictably Sara, and Angel both penned by Stevie Nicks.

Here's Marianne Faithfull's take on Angel just for interest....

My standout Mac cover has to be Grace Potter with Gov't Mule:

Laid back Soundz is going to get a bit of Chris Rea as selection 22, the long version of course with the wave crashing towards the end

and to compliment it more wave crashing from Donald Fagen "On the Dunes"

To pre-emptively add to the laid back sounds:

Laid back and somewhat melancholy. Always sounds to me like quiet desperation.
The feedback guitar in Bea's song is particularly moving.

I am generally ambivalent as far as lyrics go but these rip me to shreds.

Thanks Steve some nice selections for me to give a decent airing too.

I think I will go off on a South American tangent and see what I can find from Chile, Argentina and Peru in acknowledgement of the admirable fund raising efforts of Mary Antcliff and Nigel Dowding taking part in the Rally of the Incas last November. http://www.astonmartininmotion.co.uk/home.ht

They and their pre-war Aston Martin were out and about in Northumberland today, and I took a pic of their car for the "Classics spotting" thread.

Not very well aware of much South American music - other that the internationally famous Los Paraguayas of course, and Mika Agamatsu.

Have liked this since my teens though.

Although I haven't read or seen it, I was rather disappointed to discover that most commentators were there from 50 Sheds Of Grey :(

If you know nothing about a subject then a quick general query like "Peru Musicians" produces a decent list for a start.

Had a quick peruse, played a few examples from you tube. First interesting bit I discovered. the very well known Simon and Garfunkel song "If I Could" is a version of El Cóndor Pasa, Spanish for "The Condor Passes" an orchestral musical piece from the zarzuela El Cóndor Pasa by the Peruvian composer Daniel Alomía Robles, written in 1913 and based on traditional Andean music, specifically folk music from Peru.

So for a starter here's a version from a Peruvian Singer famous for her vocal range Yma Sumac odd but interesting.

But the best I have found so far for a selection of nice relaxed tunes with guitar and good vocals is the artist Tania Libertad. I've just been letting her stuff play away in the background...its really nice!

No idea what's her best...just kick off with one and autoplay on!

Not South American - although it could be, I just saw this and had to include it here - make sure you listen to the end

The world of ambiance sounds has moved on from whales Steve. You can get all sorts of interesting flavours now.

This may be more appropriate for the Pickled Egg...as well as the crackling fire you get the odd clink of glasses and a general hubbub of smalltalk with the odd chuckle in the background. :-D

But that is only an hour, not 9½!

There is always this:

Or even:

10 hours

I will admit that the fire thingy is more appropriate for the P.E.

How anyone manages to load up on to Youtube those 10 Hour Video's is beyond me, my machine would just go kaput :-D

I really do quite like the Medieval Tavern ambience!

The Pickled Egg jukebox, far from being virtual reality is actual reality. The South American section I have been amusing myself with has 10 selections 2 each from Peru/Chile/Argentina/Brazil with one from Columbia and one from Uruguay.

Pickled Egg Jukebox 10 South American Songs

Shove it on it the background and give it a shuffle. Starts off with a familiar Peruvian Tune (used by Simon and Garfunkel) 'sung" by Yma Sumac a Peruvian singer with a phenomenal vocal range. As ever with the PE you will never have heard this combination of artists before and none of it is in English. There is a huge world of good music out there outside what we are fed on the radio every day! An acquired taste perhaps but worth giving it an airing!
