Might be a little late to try and go and spot this one, but I was watching 'Sussex Fortnight' - an old film from 1950 that was on one of the obscure channels the other night and Lo! what do I see.....

It would seem it was located at Whiteways Lodge above Arundel :)

This involves some elastic geography - the Bucks Green box in Bury.
A bit of a walk . . . :(

Thanks for finding the photos, Neil. I'd been past this signpost over a hundred times and always wondered what the ferry looked like :)

And the above photo brings us back to the photos I posted up of classic cars, buses, and campers from last weekend. The chalk pits you can see in the distance are the home of the Amberley museum - site of the classic car show :-D

Yes we await a post from an FCF Member with an original photograph of the Trinity Box on Jersey to complete the challenge. In the meantime, I have discovered a few paragraphs from a study of the history of the telephone Kiosk in Jersey posted up in the "What do you know about Jersey?" thread, link below...

"Finally, there is a single example of a preserved AA Box, No. 687 (figure 20), located opposite Trinity Church. This box is constructed from hardwood and when in use it contained a telephone to connect to the AA emergency switchboard. These boxes were often fitted with subscriber type coin collecting boxes, although earlier some simply contained a single telephone that was connected via a private circuit directly to the AA offices. Access was only available to AA members, who were provided with a Yale type key to enable access. Originally a number of these boxes were installed around the island during 1953 including number 686 at St Ouen’s Bay, at Gorey on the corner of Rue a Don and Gorey Village, and at St John near the church. Some of these were replaced by steel pillar style telephone mounts starting in February 1977. This latter type became favoured by the AA needing lower maintenance before being finally abandoned by the organization in 2002 because of the rise in mobile telephone usage by motorists. The Trinity box was saved as a result of a campaign by local residents in April 1988.

Jersey must've been one of the few places where the patrolmen were outnumbered by the boxes.

I passed 472 on the A93 between Ballater and Aberdeen today. Cheryl wondered why I slammed the brakes on on a quiet road as I went back to get a picture of it.

It looked to be in lovely condition with some nice and colourful plants around it.

David.

Edit - posting from my phone the pictures are the wrong way around! Will edit when I’m back at home on the computer.

Well done David, I like how our little virtual challenges actually result in "real World" activity like slamming brakes on and reversing to take a photo!

Poor gabby is in a coma. She is not dead yet, the last time I put jump leads on her she kicked into life easily enough. She is also in one piece still. However she is in need of quite a bit of remedial surgery which I am unable to give her, and will cost far too much for me to get someone else to do. So she is left in peace at the side of my house where she will stay for the time being.
