fuse box under the bonet c5 x7 2.2hdi PSA

Post by morto »

ok ive been trying to track down a issue with my gyrometer as Lexia says it cant communicate with , ive checked for 12v and it does have power, it then brings up loads of other fault codes, so ive tried to find the issue myself including changing the gyrometer and it has made no difference ive also had it to a few garages and non can find the issue , so im at the stage of looking at scrapping the car as it cant be mot with the ESP light on , ok im thinking maybe the fusebox under the bonnet could be worth changing , it has around 10 fault codes and most garages tell me it has to be either a wiring issue or water some were , I don't know what to do anymore , there is no way of checking the fusebox as you cant get into them to see the circuit board but they are known to fail.. the car drives perfect
ive checked every fuse including all the ones in the BSI .. im proper strugging as it seems no one at all can fix the issue.. Citroen want nearly £90 an hour to look at it and themselfs have said its going to be hard to track it down// my only other thing was to take the engine out to sell on ebay as its a 2.2 psa 170bhp engine and try and sell the car inbits

Is this the yaw sensor ?

And did you manage to sort the Parking Brake Switch Circuit Failure from a previous post ?

Bobins , ive firstly bought the new brake switch and new updated wiring harness but this has made no difference , so all the fault codes are on the ESP81 , The very first thing it puts on the dash is parking brake failure …. but there are no faults on the FSE from Lexia, this in turn then turns off loads of other things and then puts those fault codes up , so my main one being no communication with the gyrometer, ive tried 4 second hand units all the correct ones and none work there is power to the gyrometer it says it cant communicate with the gyrometer so is this a canbus issue or possible fusebox failure, if so is there any way of checking the canbus, Lexia says that the ECU at the top of the steering wheel has no issues , so I need to track down why it cant communicate with the gyrometer, possible , fuse box under the bonnet, or canbus unit failure, or BSI unit needs replacing .. Please any help

Now with all these faults showing it would indicate a communication or ECU issue. I will look at each of these and put up some descriptors, to see if there is a common suspect for these. Give me half an hour or so.

I've put up the wiring diagram for the ESP system again here to make it easier to refer to.

In light of the other fault codes:-

At the top (7804) is the ESP Accelerometer Gyroscope
7112B is the Angle sensor + 12 V power supply
M7804 is the Earth
9000V is the High Intersystem / Can bus
9001V is the Low Intersystem / Can bus

Observations: The 7112B power wire goes from the Accelerometer Gyroscope down to:

7130 The Multiplexed Steering Angle Sensor. So both the Gyro sensor and the steering wheel angle sensor are powered from the same feed - and of course both show faults....

The High & Low CAN wires from the Gyro go to the ESP ECU (7800), but it looks like they intersect before they enter the ESP ECU. The intersection shows the CAN wires going back to the BSI. On the Steering wheel angle sensor, you can also see the pair of CAN wires heading back to the BSI.

So here to compliment the above is the wiring diagram showing the actual connections:

Here are is the location of harness 10PR for the relevant ECUs:

Morto 10PR Gyro.PNG
Morto 10PR Engine Fuse Box.PNG
10PR BSI10PR Gyro Sensors10PR Engine Fusebox
Finally, here are the fault descriptors for all these fault codes - we should bear in mind that one fault is likely to be triggered by another on the same system. I'm reluctant to draw any conclusions, but look at the suspect areas at the bottom of each table for indications - again bearing in mind that signal / communications data from one or more areas can have a cascade effect on the other faults.

many thanks Marc , some fantastic information, just re looking at Lexia just now and looked into dynamic information look at this, so it shows the steering wheel angle sensor as faulty.. ive just looked into all dynamic info on the FSE and everything is good, this could be misleading as no communication with the gyrometer means it cant be calibrated up so will show faulty? interesting it says at the bottom it says no fault detected by the ESP

If it is reporting the SWAS as faulty then that alone will throw an ESP / ABS Faulty issue on the dash and disable the ESP functions.

There is a routine in there to calibrate it - it should be self guided, so give it a go.

ISTR that one of the things that can throw the SWAS out is if the tracking is done on the front wheels but the steering wheel isn't set dead ahead during the process.

If they did any adjustment, and possibly beforehand anyway, then the steering wheel angle sensor needs resetting. It's not difficult on the earlier Mk1 C5 (did it a couple of times) but I don't know where it would be in the menu for the X7.

It's in the ESP ECU section on the X7. It is a guided procedure.

Marc it wont calibrate up as it cant communicate with the gyrometer, can you give me info on how to take off my steering wheel off I think its worth trying a second hand steering wheel sensor

Trouble is when these are removed then they have to be calibrated again in either case. But if you want to have a go, give me a minute to type something up.
