Very kind! Here's one little taskette that remains outstanding in spite of researching dams in Spain (presa de embalse) never managed to nail the location of this one used in the citroen "Take the long way home" promotional video.

Have a look at reservoir Embalse de Béznar dam. I think you'll find that's the one. !! :) :)

If you fancy a nostalgic trip back to the KR200 days of open toppage looks like you would have to fork out a decent wedge of cash these days....

So at the risk of a zero participation thread but never afraid to miss, your contributions are invited!

well as you know mine is Yellow but not a Spitfire.....

definitely small physically and tech wise,, 660cc 3 pot, 64bhp, 25l tank but 45mpg however driven even when abusing the 9k redline ( standard rev limiter )...my ECU is a tad different - you use the valves bouncing to 'limit' the revs :-D

not quite near a dam in Spain, Picos de Europe, Cantabria

I had 5 2cvs and 5 MX-5s.

It took me that long to conclude open-top cars are horrible and a waste of space. It's either too hot or too cold, or you get sunburnt.

Good old Googl'Erf is my weapon of choice. I'm well versed in analysing aerial shots so it didn't take too long to work out where the dam was :)

Mick/Bobins I have given credit where credit is due for the Spanish Dam find here. With just a gentle encouragement for our FCF Chief Correspondant on all matters Spanish (yes Chris (White Exec)) to enjoy a lovely drive along the coast and up into the Sierra Nevada to possibly return with the prize of an original pic!

The Coupe Cabriolet

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Who invented it?

Anyone got one/had one/would consider buying one?

Here's an example, is it the best coupe cabriolet on a budget, and is it a good-looking beast in its own right?
NF own work Peugeot 307 Coupe Cabriolet
NF own work Peugeot 307 Coupe Cabriolet
Here's the roof in action

Of course if the rather neat roof mechanism goes kaput and the hydraulic pump is knackered could cost more than the car is worth to fix it :-D ...but maybe they just work and don't go wrong, who knows?

Considering I bought mine as a none runner for £30 in 1969, did the necessary including new hood and frame and rebuilt steering and then sold it for £175 a year later, which I thought was a great deal, all I can say is gutted!!!!! Have done that too many times so now I just buy cars that are likely to lose money and try to break even! :-D

My father in law had one of those 307CC for a few years, he px'd it when the ashtray got filled up or somesuch. It was a Roland Garros (no, me neither ! ) special - very quick for a 2L Hdi, but the usual problems of a failed DMF. There was also a problem where the fuel additive pouch actually fell off the car  Other than that, a very nice car - though there was a procedure to follow if you wanted to tip the front seats forward to let someone get in the back - if you did it wrong, then the front seat wouldn't re-latch on its runners and would spend the journey rolling backwards and forwards each time you accelerated / braked #-o

Some of the older Merc SLK can be bought surprisingly cheap (sub £2k). If you've got a tame garage who don't mind being a bit resourceful when it comes to doing repairs then they might actually represent fair VFM :)
