All right, going up a 1 in 14 incline with laden trucks, you aren't going to break many speed records but its nice that the notice gives you carte blanc. The sign gives drivers authority to "charge" the 1 in 14 Hopton Incline.

Hopwood incline on the former Cromford and High Peak Railway in Derbyshire (see Significant milage thread for tenuous link)

The Dire Straits chaps lived in our village for a while using a local recording studio, a tragedy occurred, their roady was killed by an idiot youth in a car careering onto the footpath in Coleford.
He was carrying his young son on his shoulders, fortunately the boy was unhurt.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

I initially misread that and thought it said DRIVERs. Couldn't quite make out what sort of an 'attraction' that was, that being the case

The area around Browns Bay between Cullercoats and WhitleyBay, is a hotspot for scuba diving because it contains the wrecks of the Butetown, the Zephyros and The Astley at just seven metres below the surface. The nearby reef is also home to lobsters, crabs, starfish and octopus.. Very popular spot for Diver Training, and the nearest place to park your car and whip your gear off and on is up by that little park.

Clearly there must have been a bit of bare flesh on display from time to time and there's nothing more offensive than a glimpse of bare flesh of course....surely not!

The location was a very popular spot for sea swimming, with a natural tidal pool in the rocks being extended through blasting, and it features in one of those lovely old railway/travel posters.
From rockclifferemembers.co.uk
Formed in 1910, The Whitley and Monkseaton Bathing Club made good use of the pool. They had a winkle motif adorning their official red and black swimming costumes. It is believed that later in the club’s history, each member was given a gold-plated winkle shell and that the custom of local ladies and gentlemen showing each other their winkles came from this! The school also formed a bathing club for boys in 1913.At its peak the pool had separate changing facilities installed for the ladies and gents which are believed to have existed until the 1950s.
Plenty of discretion for undressing in those days :-D

Just popped down to B&Q for a new hose gun, grabbed a cup of tea and bacon roll from the van, ate it in the car then looked for somewhere to put the litter. Saw this in the corner of the car park:

so I drove over to it and read the sign:

EH??

Not to mention the spelling but that's a whole thread on its own. So did I or didn't I?
