Yeah might give that a go then and download the maps.

Just a heads up when you follow the instructions for the battery disconnect/re connect I had 2 issues.

1. It says to take off the negative terminal from the battery - I couldn't find access to it so I disconnected the positive instead.

2. When you re-connect the battery the instructions say to NOT open the door, however I had to so I could sit inside. Because it then says to hold the lock button to sync the key fob, when I did this the window went up which meant I couldn't continue the next step.

It's likely you will need to reload your mapping software on then - as the database will need to be rebuilt. If you have your original maps on USB - try putting that in and letting it update.

RESULT

The map update worked and now I have a fully functioning radio, Bluetooth and Satnav all for under £20.

The only niggle is that it comes up Peugeot when I start the car but I'm not bothered.

Thank you everyone for your help especially Marc, I really appreciate it.

No problem, glad thats worked for you 👍

The marque can be changed through ECU configuration, but needs Diagbox to do it. Sometimes the reversing sensors may need configuring too by the same means if you have any issues. Well done.

Well just round to doing mine. Pretty simple if I may say. However still nothing working.
I still can't eject the cd and have tried all the usual things.
On thinking about it, I don't think - or should I say that I'm certain it isn't actually spinning. I would hear that.
If it was spinning I could probably use another cd to prise it into the eject.

So, spin fixes please. Why is it not spinning?
Also, even though it's stuck and not spinning, I still occasionally get a crc check showing on the otherwise blank screen then a warning that an upgrade is being prepared which never goes very far.

Is this the original firmware CD or a blank CD that you burned the firmware onto? If this is 'home burnt' CD, the file format can cause issues with the system constantly trying to recognise the CD. Ot must be burned at the lowest speed possible (certainly no more the 4x speed) and secondly the format must be Joliet only, not ISO / Joliet.
As for ejecting it, try a long press on the eject button. If that fails, it's unit out time, undoing some screws and trying to locate the CD from the front end and pulling it out carefully. This is a video for and RD4 unit on an X7, but yours will be different no doubt.

Had another look at it on Sunday. The sdcard hadn't been properly inserted so I took care of that.
Also tried to get the cd out but it won't come out as it seems the spindle doesn't drop to allow it and there appears to be 2 tabs at the front that prevent it as well.

Anyway, once the sdcard had been properly located and everything put back in place the screen showed the crc check again and went through the full installation process right up to the 100%. It then ejected the cd and did a restart and all I got was the same cd whirring sounds as before. Screen blank and none of the associated things accessible, ie reversing camera, bluetooth for phone etc.
Seems knackered.
Can't think of anything else to do. The new sdcard and firmware can't be at fault otherwise it wouldn't have gone to 100% installation.
I've emailed Clarion about them doing repairs and am waiting to hear back from them but if anyone has any other usful ideas I'd be pleased to hear them

When it ejected the Cd and restarted, did you quickly whip the CD out so it didn't start the process again?

Because you have just updated the firmware, I would suggest you do a battery disconnect now (as the Head unit retains power) and allow a good 5 minutes in between reconnecting the battery terminal - as per the procedure:

Didn't reload the cd after it ejected.
Suppose it would be worthwhile to do a battery disconnect procedure though. Might give it a go tonight if it doesn't rain.
Only problem is that every time I do this I have trouble starting the car as it somehow needs the diesel system to be bled to remove air every time.
It's a pain but could be worth the effort though

That shouldn't need doing.... just follow my procedure exactly including the timings. I've updated it to account for Stop Start and Keyless entry fitted vehicles.

Don't shortcut anything - or it will be a waste of time. :-D

Thanks again Marc,
BSI Rest / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

I want to be certain of this and I don't know if the switching on and off of the ignition should be done right after each other ie, as highlighted in red.
Also the central locking - is that locking the car by the key fob?

I’ve modified your post to remove the unnecessary lines.

I will revise the procedure again to try and make it clearer, thanks for letting me know.

While it is peripheral to the original question, I recently bought a couple of Faraday pouches for my two younger daughters as both have keyless entry/ignition cars - this to help prevent the cars being stolen y having the key transmissions being intercepted while away from the car.

Such a thing might make life easier when doing the battery disconnect/reconnect though. I paid only a fiver for two, from Amazon, but they are widely available.

Going to try this tonight as I'm just pulling myself together from a stomach operation that has kept me out of action for a couple of weeks.
Here's hoping
