Hi Guys,
With the subframe off the car I thought I would have a look for the irritating knock I have been getting and on examining the rear bushes on the wishbone found both had a lot of play.
When removed they are shot. One I can almost pull the bush off.
Fortunately I bought replacement wishbones and fitted same.
I have read the procedure to set the height but it does not say if this has to be measured at forced low setting low setting or normal setting ?
Please advise.
Thanks
Kenny

Re: Lower front wishbones
When I had to replace the front wishbones on my S2 Xantia I had the help and advice of citronut. What we did was to replace the wishbones, but we did NOT do them up tight (they were barely finger tight) until the car was bearing weight on her wheels and at the normal ride height. This allowed the bushes to move to their normal positions. Only then did we tighten up the bolts to the correct torque.
If you were to tighten up the bolts to their correct torque while the wishbones were not at their normal rest position this will result in them wearing out fairly quickly, as the rubber is constantly under a twisting load.

Re: Lower front wishbones
Kenny - not sure you need to do anything about the suspension height settings for changing the wishbones? I changed the bush arrowed (or my local did) along with the ARBs. Didn't need to change anything to do with the suspension height.KennyW wrote: ↑12 Jun 2019, 15:33 Hi Guys,

Re: Lower front wishbones
Marc,
In the fitment procedure, they state fit wishbone but do not tighten bolts until the gap is 58 mm =/- 5mm.
Sorry I can't get the details across to the forum site if you have access to fitment procedure please look at same and advise.
Kenny
I/ve just notice this for wishbone (no Height corrector)

Re: Lower front wishbones
This is an extract, but no reference to suspension height as in height correction checking / adjustment which is what I understood you were referring to Kenny. Just that the suspension circuit is depressurised to allow you the movement to adjust the wishbone before tightening as indicated:
Position the suspension lower arm (4) on the front subframe.
Refit without tightening:
The (3) bolt
The (2) bolt
The (1) bolt
"X" = 58 ± 5 mm.
Position the front suspension lower arm to the dimension "X".
Tighten:
The (3) bolt
The (2) bolt
The (1) bolt

Re: Lower front wishbones
Hello Guys,
Got car onto the ground and done citrobiotics and turned rack to bleed air with some degree of success.
The rack appears to be clear of air but the front height is definitely too high.
Obviously I changed both wishbones as my old ones were knackered.
Will this have affected the ride height (possibly) and do I have follow the height adjustment in the repair procedures ?

Re: Lower front wishbones
Matter resolved by adjusting the clamp on ARB.
Will have to follow the height adjustment procedure to get the ride completely sorted but that can wait for another day and a 4 post ramp to use.
