Thank you that sounds promising, I suggested this to the Citroen dealer however they told me this model doesn't have an SD card (unless they were wrong?) It's definitely the RT6 Model. It's a late 2012 car

Many thanks

It does - internally! They wouldn't know that of course as they don't repair them or have anything to do with the internals. I think they are getting confused with the SD card on the front of the older MyWay (RNEG) unit, which the eMyWay (RT6) units do not have, that was used for navigation maps. I'm referring to the inside of the unit. I'm putting together the guide now, so won't be long.

Please let us know if you get it sussed out.
I have no confidence in Citroen themselves to sort it out, and at a reasonable price.
At 125,000 miles my car isn't worth that much anyway to throw over £1000 at the problem.

One thing that has me baffled is that there is no ignition key to turn off or on.
The system detects the presence of the keyfob and starting the engine is with a press of the button.
So how is it possible to turn off the ignition

You have a stop / start system with keyless entry?

For these systems, just press the Start Stop button without pressing any pedals. That should switch ignition on only. But when reconnecting battery, ensure the fob is not within 2-3 metres of the car perimeter until the time of reconnecting the battery has lapsed.

Yes, that’s the thought, nothing really to loose at this stage.

For the cost of a few quid for the firmware update CD and a MicroSD card, it has to be worth a shot.

Thank you very much I will call the Citroen dealer tomorrow and ask for the CD. Is there a guide anywhere which shows how to remove the unit?

Cool so I can download that and burn it to CD instead of going to the main dealer for it?

Guys....I also have the firmware files - there is a reason why I suggested you order the firmware CD from the dealer (you have the part number in one of my previous posts).

The reason is those files have bee around the web and through lots of dodgy hosting sites. There are well-documented cases of people bricking their systems because of corrupt firmware files from which can make things worse.

The other reason it that loading the files from USB can cause an issue if the USB is not being recognised. People have had more success using the official CD.

The other reason is that people make mistakes copying the files from the zipped archive onto a USB key, as once it has been inserted into your PC, Windows will create those "System Volume Information" files that can affect the drive. I didn't want to get into an IT tutorial to resolve this additional complication as not everyone has good ICT skills - so your choice of course. :-D

I respect that opinion Marc but I use this site a lot and have done numerous map updates from the downloaded files.
I've never had a glitch yet and I always look at the user comments before I use any just to see if they suffer a problem.

What I have now is a "brick" anyway. My perspective on it is that the unit consists of electronic equipment, ie mechanical stuff and circuit boards. All that is controlled by the software which is obviously on the sd card. If any of the circuitry is knackered already then swapping the sd card won't improve things.
If the sd card is the cause of the problem then installing the new files would sort it, and if the code is dodgy it'll just not work, ie be no improvement over the original problem.

Anyway, I have a sd card on the way, I have the firmware on cd so will give it a shot when I have time.
Thanks for the help along the way. It'll either work or it won't, but you have been a mine of information.

What physical size SD card does the unit take? Full size or micro? Probably micro I would have thought.

Interesting that you're having to faff around with the internal SD card as I had to alter the partition sizing on the card in the SMEG+ system (also made by Magnetti Marelli) so that there was enough space for the map updates.

Anyway, back to subject.
