Bulb Type

Post by Subsonicnat »

The Bulb on the Passenger side electric window has blown presumably.
Thing is what are they called,?.
Was told they were Main dealer only,Phoned them and they do not have a clue..
I think they have wires rather than connections ...
anyone know where I can obtain one or at least what type they are, wondered if I could use Electronic Type bulbs,,, ,but may need a resistor to change the voltage..
But room is very limited where it fits.
Any idea`s.?.

Not shown separately on parts database - new switch only, at £25. You'd have to see if you could dismantle and work out what is fitted, but it may not be possible to replace. I'd see if I could get one from a breakers.

It'll either be an LED, or small (maybe wire-ended) filament lamp.
Open up the switch carefully, and have a look.

yes, Did open one I had bought online off ebay.
Trouble was this one was burnt out as well,it has 2 wires which wrap around inside the rocker switch..so looking to buy new,as buying second hand is just going to be hit and miss.Coudl go to my mates scrappy and check there I suppose.
finding a new one would be better.

An electronics supplier should be able to supply those.
They are usually 12-14v, 1.2W.
Lamp type is "T1 (or T1.5) wire ended".

If you don't mind losing a bit of brightness, you can buy the bulbs in 14V rating, which last much longer.

14v bulbs will also be much less liable to melt the switch.

40mA might be rather dim (= 0.56W).
Originals could be 1.2W, so you would need 14v 80mA (= 1.12W)
These tiny bulbs are often not marked with voltage/wattage, but check the wattage by measuring the current taken by a working bulb in another switch.

Some here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sub-Miniatur ... ctupt=true

or here*:
https://www.rapidonline.com/barthelme-0 ... 2w-57-6575
Item code: 57-6575 for the 1.2W bulb.
Other voltages/wattages available in the range too.

* Rapid Electronics (in Colchester) are a really useful company to order from.
Large range of product, far better than Maplin ever were, and ideal for small orders. Rapid dispatch. Straightforward to open an account. Full technical and dimension details for each product.
Part of even bigger outfit - Conrad Electronics - also good for on-line orders.
