Hard on Mr Softee.....

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Nice headline from the Guardian....."Hard on Mister Softee: London councils ban ice cream vans"

and seeing as this is the French Car Forum here is a appropriately glum looking Ice Cream Van for good measure :-D

Now, am I hoping too much (A: Yes), but if there were a decent supply of EV charging points on our streets, the issue of ICE-cream vans (geddit?) would just melt away, would it not? :dunno:

One I used to service back in the sixties had an auxiliary engine to run the ice dream maker, a side valve Ford 1172cc, didn't need the main engine running whilst serving.
I think a lot of parents will be happy at the ban, no wailing kids when the damned jingles start. :)
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Have you ever wondered how the Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs occupy their time.....?

Well on the matter of "Ice Cream Van Chimes etc" they bring out a code of practice...

Code of Practice on Noise from Ice-Cream Van Chimes Etc. in England 2013

Yes all right that was 2013, they are probably much more streamlined and efficient now, and focus on more weighty matters.

Perhaps if they were rather more tuneful, there'd have been less complaints but, really, who would actually go to the trouble of lodging a complaint?
