Wheresthisthen? Not too difficult for at least one contributor to the thread I think.

Re: On your Bike
Bought a bike work stand from Lidl last week (thanks to HellRazor posting a link!)...just as well! Out at weekend on a short ride, and found the gears were seized up on my bike. So up on the stand and cleaned / greased / lubed so working nicely. Then went out on Tuesday, but came back like this...
The saddle clamp bolt snapped about 5 miles from home. At least I've got a built in saddle carrier! The reaction force from this also snapped a spoke in the front wheel
Anyway back home, I found a spoke of the right size in the bike spares, and a bolt the right size (although it's not High Tensile, so I've bought some of those), so up on the stand and got it repaired
That's not much of an advert for my garage, is it? There's a Visa buried under there somewhere!!
Stand then pressed into use to paint the frame for the Velocette. Worth every penny!!

Re: On your Bike
This question mainly directed at Timmo - I've just been given a late friends old Brompton bike. I know not a lot about it, and it'll need a little TLC before either I or the Mrs can use it. How do I identify the approximate year of manufacture ? It doesn't have a sticker beneath the seat clamp, but the numbers stamped on the frame are 144418 and BS6102. It's on the original Raleigh tyres, is red, with mudguards, 3 speed. Are there any other clues to year of manufacture ?

Re: On your Bike
Unfortunately that page doesn't cater for old Bromptons, but I have found what I assume to be a date code stamped on the Sturmey-Archer hub : 98-04. So I'm guessing the bike was built second quarter of 1998. 21 years old and still in brilliant condition. I even pumped up the old tyres and they're currently holding air Just need to lube the cables and chain and then see if it'll go OK

Re: On your Bike
I would assume it is quite possibly a 98 hub, perhaps have a nose at a couple of the plastic moulded parts and see if they are date stamped as car parts, Brommy's don't age, they hold amazing value and have an incredibly loyal following, most of this comes down to how they ride, and also that train Companies can not refuse you travel with one when folded!

Re: On your Bike
The good news is that neither of the serial number/frame numbers come back as stolen!
