Re: BSI reset C5X7
I put together a new guide here, based on the different reasons to do one - Battery Connect / Disconnect or BSI Reset and to account for any work need to be done in between the procedures. This was for the very reason you mentioned that there are versions that have been added to and amended. I have done this because the other general guides were not as specific and did not explain the reasons why and importance of the procedure at various steps.
BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect & Connect
This is derived from several of the manufacturer versions across models which themselves do change.

Re: BSI reset C5X7
What I have always wondered is, is there any confirmation that the reset has actually happened, like a beep or anything?

Re: BSI reset C5X7
No. It is the ECUs that write their data, are then powered down, left to sleep, then are reinitialised. There are no beeps whistles or bongs. You may have in excess of 25-30 ECUs on your vehicle.
You may hear some whirring, but that is only electro valves opening and closing equipment like the EGR after a period of time has elapsed after the ignition is switched off.
It’s another reason why the timings are important to follow- in order to allow all the kit to shut down properly, and not to open doors or press switches, or leave keys in the ignition, as these cause triggering events that can wake up the ECUs in anticipation of you driving off, for example.

Marc, could I suggest you add on the routine for when you have a keyless system? I know you posted it up in a separate query recently but I cannot for the life of me find it.

Re: BSI reset C5X7
I remember posting a bit up about how to access ignition only with Stop Start system - is that what you are referring to Paul?

Could be if it includes how to do the BSI reset if you have a keyless system?

Ta. It's not for me as I have a proper key!

Amen to those. Keyless systems are one of those 2 steps forward, 10 back moments as far as I'm concerned.
