Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Its not often that Japanese "classics" get a mention on the thread, so here are a few coming up for auction.

There's a mention on a news site about an auction tomorrow at a French auction house for a private collection of classic Citroens.
Sorry I've lost the link.

Cappuccino values really do seem to be on the up these days... that's probably not a bad estimate if it's rust free. Doesn't surprise me to be honest... they're huge fun to drive yet reasonably well thought out and not so frenetic as to make them tiring to use in the real world.

A little bit of tweaking under the bonnet......120bhp is a relatively easy target.
Regards the rust, paying that sort of money I "d need to see a bare shell dipped and prepped. Twin rear bulkheads that rot from the inside and spread rapidly, seen a number go beyond saving, running gear I,be seen used in a Standard 10 shell
currently '06 C5 2.0 HDi auto estate Tip run and France trekker - well should be!! occupied currently by '10 Superb DSG 170 elegance- whistles and bells that work

Had a visit to Mathewsons Auction today. Have to say it took over the village, very very busy and the village hall opposite the garage was filled to capacity with people spilling out of the doors.

Plenty of variety on sale but have to say I am always drawn to the Rover P6 in a nicely polished up state.

Gleaming white one was particularly nice.

There was also a rare P6 Estate in Blue, but close up, not keen on that conversion at all.

There were two firms carrying out estate conversions on P6, and neither was very attractive or popular. One of them seriously followed the curved roofline downwards, which drastically reduced the height of the tailgate top.

Much more successful was an SD1 estate, of which Rover produced just two roadworthy prototypes, but decided not to go ahead - leaving the field wide open for Volvo. One of the SD1 estates survives.

Didn't know there were 2 P6 estates (which I always wanted in my 3500S days - just because they were different!) & I'm sure I've not seen one without a vinyl roof.

That SD1 conversion works better than it deserved to - but the Jag was so much classier (if a little weird around the rump).

The CX is lovely.
Some interesting stuff in that listing. The Bagheera was unexpected.

Surprised to see the Alfasud in there, I thought they had all turned to dust years ago. :)

There are some nice cars but some that are valued in thousands that frankly I still wouldn't give twenty quid for.
