Nemo sliding door lock not fully releasing?

Post by vonsworld »

Hello
I have a problem with a sliding side door on my Citroen Nemo Multispace.
The door opens about an inch and then stops. It's as if the lock is not quite opening far enough to fully release the latch.
Before I take it apart just thought I would ask you for some advice.
Does the mechanism perhaps just need some lubrication, or can it be adjusted so that the handles pull the locking mechanism open a little more?
Thanks for your advice
Robin

Thanks for your reply, but think I have found the problem, which is similar to the same fault reported with the Berlingo.

The fuel filler cover has a safety mechanism which prevents the back sliding door opening if the cover is not closed.
There is a plastic plunger inside the filler hole, which the fuel cover pushes in when it's closed, this is attached to a cable that causes a metal rod or similar to protrude from the inner door frame, thus preventing the door from opening properly.

The plunger is missing on my nemo, there is just a hole where it used to be, so it has fallen inside behind the wheel arch.

What is the easiest way to reach this please, since there is plastic trim under the wheel arch?

Thanks :)

That's it! Many thanks, at least I can now see what the mechanism looks like.

Thanks a lot for helping me out. Using your diagram I was able to open the door by inserting a screw driver between the door and frame to push in the safety bolt that was preventing it from opening. I have now cured the problem by undoing the mechanism in the door frame and disconnecting the cable. A simple job in the end and the car is ready for the MOT tomorrow!

Cheers
Robin 😊

Big thanks from me for this. Wife came home distraught that her 'shopping loading door' was jammed. Car only got back from the bodywork repair workshop Wednesday after somebody was shunted into the back, so very sad.

I had pretty much looked at everything I could think of without any joy. I had no idea this was even fitted. A carefully wedged wood screw has solved the problem for now. Might give it a further investigation in the spring.

Must be an MOT related event, mine is booked in for Monday evening (hopefully relatively Covid secure).

Once again many thanks, will be back to have a better look around later. Just felt it worth registering to show my appreciation.

You're welcome, glad it helped.

It's a really confusing problem until you realise this fuel cap lock exists.

I undid the mechanism in the door frame and disconnected it. A simple fix.

I don't need this safety feature so am not going to get it repaired, and the car has passed the MOT without it.

Cheers
