Had occasion to look at PSA Groupe's website today, and came across this which I read as a bit of a double-entendre in the "Opel Brand"

PRODUCT OFFENSIVE

Opel/Vauxhall is conducting the largest product offensive in the company’s history......

So what was Opel/Vauxhall's most offensive product?

Mk1 Viva?
Or the AC system fitted to Vectra, which just . . . leaked.
Or the complete lack of cabin space for the driver in Mk2 Cavalier.

I was paddling around that site to add to the potential list of vehicles re Timmo's PSA Convoy thread!

Wondered if any of the PSA brands made larger commercials. Came across the charmingly named Opel Blitz!

Wiki has a decent page on them and the Blitz name which was originally came from a Prize competition, appeared on a number of variants from 1930 to 1975, and was put to military use in WW2. There's even a Bedford Blitz variant on the wiki page.
"Opel Blitz (German for "lightning") was the name given to various light and middle-weight truck series built by the German Opel automobile manufacturer between 1930 and 1975. The original logo for this truck, two stripes arranged loosely like a lightning symbol in the form of a horizontally stretched letter "Z", still appears in the current Opel logo. "

..and the cutest Blitz pic on the wiki page...this one in my opinion

Going back a couple of posts, presumably the new Insignia is not a re-badged Buick.

Oh, & I think the Blitz name died with the CF, because after that Opel & VX shared model names.

The 9 3/4 mph speed limit is definitely real - saw that myself at the Haven park at Scarborough last year and did a bit of a double take as it seemed oddly specific to me.

Whilst out on a local bike ride with the Mrs this afternoon, I came across this. I remember seeing it about 20 years ago when I used to visit the area so knew it must be around here somewhere :)

Presumably it was protecting bridges that gave rise to that wonderful old road sign that referred to "heavy locomotives"
