There are three members in the Leeds area and one in Wakefield who have offered diagnostics help to other members. Usually for a few beer tokens.
Have a look on this list and use the map link at the end to find them then send a PM to arrange a meeting with them.

Do remember that they are volunteers and not always online or available so it could take some time to arrange.

Brokeit wrote: 07 Mar 2019, 10:05 This is really helpful, thanks a lot for input.

I had actually already replaced the clutch switch, but the trouble code associated (P0704-1C) persists. Notably though, this does not appear in the "last trouble codes" section, which is where the remaining codes can be found.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Lexia. Looking online you can find for about £50, although I'm not sure I have the expertise required to use this to successfully diagnose the issue. (I also have a mac, which may be problematic- I suspect software is only for PC!)

Shopping around, it seems that I can get aftermarket/ reclaimed EGR valve, rail pressure sensor and MAF sensor for a little over £100 all together. Given the money I save doing this myself instead of handing to a garage, I'd be happy to try these fixes myself all in one go, and accept the loss if no joy.

Do you think this is a worthwhile endeavour? Or am I better off taking to a garage for Lexia diagnostics?

Thanks again, Tom
A couple of points:

A £50 Lexia won't be a full chip version - so forget it as you will have problems diagnosing later vehicles with full CAN architectures.
The software won't run on a MAC - it needs a 32 bit version of Windows 7 or 10 (I've not included XP, but that was was what it originally ran on, but is out of support now)
The PSA commercial range of vehicles have elements of Ford and FIAT in them and as such will usually require the S1279 Add-On module for Lexia to access certain ECUs and functions. It is something to consider if considering a Lexia.

We have a member discount available from Easydiagnostics - but has to be your choice. There are other suppliers, but anything under £100 is probably not a Revision 'C' full chip kit. One has to consider a Lexia kit as an investment if you undertake your own maintenance. It can provide live data and near dealer level functionality, but is of course a clone, so there is no support not for the software, except what you can find out on the web and here from members.

Usually I would recommend a dedicated laptop 4Gb RAM, 2 GHz processor and dedicated graphics - which can be had second hand on the bay cheap enough for about £80+. Keep it free of other crapware and just use it for diagnostics. When you consider the cost of diagnostic time it can soon pay for itself.

These hdi engines are crap. As Marcand alot of the other regulars onbhere know, I have had untild problems with mine. Same van as yours @ brokeit. I had a mk1 Dispatch a few years back , with the 1.9 n/a XUD engine. Flat as a fart, but bulletproof. Only got rid as it was starting to become a bit unreliable, parts wearing out etc. Had 4 &1/2 years trouble free before that though. I will NEVER buy another French van, they drop si much in value, in a very short time. This van I havent even had a whole year yet, and its dropped 3k from what I paid for it in April last year. Also spent well over 1k on parts and repairs. Im going back to Ford next change
Cheers Rich

Actually there's a lot of Ford and Fiat in these as I said Rich! Maybe that's the reason they are worse than the pure French versions. :rofl2:

But your DV6UTED4 only has some Italian in!

That was the DV6TED4 version fitted to Volvo (C30, S40, V50, S80 & V70) Steve, along with the Mazda 3, the Ford Focus, C-Max, and Mini.

I was under the impression that the engine was the same with a few Volvo tweaks and a more sensible service regime.

There were at least 9 flavours of the DV6 engine I believe Steve - all different power outputs and were even fitted to the C1.

Had no idea.
My next door neighbour has a C1, as does my eldest granddaughter. Hope they are not lumbered with the 1.6.

We've got the DV6ATED4 1.6 92 BHP in our C3 and it has been faultless (engine wise) in its current 43k miles. We do have it main dealer serviced every 2 years as we don't do the miles.

Hi all just joined this forum as I’m hoping someone can help,I’ve got the anti pollution error up on my 2007 dispatch van ,have had it put on a diagnostic m/c and it says I have constant live to glow plugs so I’m having to disconnect battery every time I get out of the van, this has already happened twice before but only lasted a few days then the plug burns out and van goes back to running normal but this time it’s lasted a week and is still in limp mode, is there anyway I can disconnect the glow plugs without bringing the engine management light on. Thanks Dai.

You need to look at the glow plug relay / pre-heating box with a view to replacing it if it's constantly supplying current. HDIs rarely use them apart for starting in extreme cold and for assisting DPF regeneration (if fitted).

First thing to check is to disconnect the engine ECU & check for any signs of water ingress. When water gets into the ECU on Xsara picassos this is one of the things it does, holds the glow plug relay on, failing that probably a sticking relay.
For the time being i would suggest leaving the glow relay unplugged. Better to have warning light on than a melted wiring harness or even fire.
