There's quite a few cars in that auction that got me thinking that I should have been there with a wadge of cash in my hand

Meteor Grey according to the sale particulars. Up for sale today at DVCA. Awaiting results.
Sale particulars in full for those interested if you unhide the spoiler. MOT to Nov 2019. Is there going to be enough interest to fetch a decent price or is it going to go for under £1000 :-D
Spoiler: show
1989 Citroen CX 25 DTR Turbo 2 Safari

Make: Citroen
Model: CX 25 DTR Turbo 2 Safari
Year: 1989
Registration Number: F407 NNK
Chassis Number: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Engine Number: C41587M25669
Transmission: Manual
Steering: Right Hand Drive
Colour: Meteor Grey
MOT Test Expiry: November 2019
Mileage: 114,000
Guide Price: £5000 - 7000

Lot No: 224

The sought after Citroen CX 25 Safari is an extremely difficult model to find in good condition and we consider this example to be possibly the best on the market. The bodywork and paint are very original (apart from the tailgate, which was restored in 2015) and in generally good condition, as is the interior, although the instrument cluster does have some fading and we understand that the central locking is not working at present. The mechanical aspect of the motor car has been maintained to a high standard and the alloy road wheels have been refurbished and are fitted with four new Uniroyle tyres, fitted in 2015 but barely used since.

A new Citroen engine was installed in September 1994 at 78855 miles at a cost of almost £2000. The rear suspension spheres were replaced in 2016 and the front spheres in 2018. A new battery was fitted in 2016.

A large history file is supplied, which contains amongst others the V5C registration certificate, handbooks, invoices and a huge quantity of MOT test certificates.

Futuroscope was the location for the Grand Depart in 1990 and 2000 according to the wiki list. 10 points if you know off the top of your head who won in those 2 years :-D

Top placed British Rider was 119th in 1990, and 62nd in 2000. The latter rider had the distinction of winning the first stage. Yes you can have 100 points if you can put a name to them without looking it up!

Coincidentally, last night I went to the theatre... First time in years... The show as called 'Ventoux' and was a study of the relationship between Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani during the 2000 Tour de France and the doping culture prevalent at the time...

It was absolutely awesome and I enjoyed it immensely despite the late night... Here's a couple of publicity pics from the theatre website..

Yes Lance Armstrong was first past the post in 2000. The winner in 1990 was another American winning the Tour for the 3rd Time.

The British top finishers were David Millar in 2000 who got the yellow jersey after winning the first stage, and
Sean Yates in 1990.

Back in the day the Southern Roadcraft Daytona demonstrator was painted black and looked lovely, but then it was more often than not shiny and looked alluring. To me, that photo of the auction car just makes it look bulky and dull - it needs a good polish up and get those wheels cleaned.... then I'd consider bidding on it...............if I'd got the money.... which I haven't

Daytona at Rover.jpg
Even David Bache was intrigued by Daytona, when he came to SD1 styling. This picture was taken outside the factory at Solihull. The trucks are lined up to deter prying eyes.

Earlier, during work in developing P6, more than one Citroën DS was near the same spot, with its unstressed body panels hanging on a tough base unit being a huge influence. DS and P6 share a lot of design cues: such as the curved top corners of the windscreen, rear quarter-panels (those 'flute' rear indicators were considered, too), and of course the shark's nose.

Citroen H Van with the red Connoly leather seats just sold for £16,800 hammer price.

Interesting that some lots are introduced with "restoration with invoices totalling £17,000...and it sells for £10,000.

£900 hammer price for this second of last lot....

Most lots were sold to onsite bidders and couldn't pick out one which went to a commission bid lodged with the auctioneers.. On line bidding would appear to be more convenient but few on-line bidders walked away with the car. Seems like if you want a car, get to the auction in person.

Mazda MX 5 Jim bit of a throwaway at the end of the auction.

Impressed with the Auctioneer and the results are here instantly from todays sale.

It surprises me that a car of this spec and calibre 300bhp 4.2 litre achieves a meagre £5,060.

Hate those early XK8's - just because of the repurposed Pug estate rear bumper; makes it look so sad!

If those seats reflected the overall condition/finish of that H-van, by modern standards, that wasn't a bad price.

Never mind the styling cues, the important debt the P6 owes to the DS is rethinking front suspenion & doing away with a conventional steering column.

Now back to H-vans - & for a reason - quite my chance found, on an American site, a smart light blue, early, SWB one, still on old Dutch plates (indeed stillin Holland!) nicely appointed stealth camper, for (just) under €10,000 BUT, it hand been standing for 8(?) years.
