Dad's Standard 10 had one and I believe his first Moggie (split-screen) had one too - and semaphore arm turn indicators.

Old Vauxhalls had the starter switch on the floor, mine mostly had the dip switch there.

& Minis re-introduced it '59.

The problem with floor dipswitches was you always needed to use it in the middle of changing gear.

In amongst all the general dullness and grime of a steam powered lorry cab, the tin of "Euro" Brasso adds a welcome splash of colour.

When was the last time you bought a tin of brasso?

I still have a tin of Brasso here and it gets used... It's a good, fine polish for all kinds of metals and not just brass :)

I picked up a tin of Brasso last week for my old friend, she has a room full of brass plaques and other brass ornaments and seems to love polishing them, Brasso is still available in many shops...…………….but the tins are a lot smaller than the one in the picture above. :)

That's quite small by "steam" standards - I've seen gallon cans (no 5 litre placcie containers - yet!) at fairs.

Never seen it in shops though (not that I've been looking) in fact, I thought it'd gone the way of all such products that I associate with the '50's 'til I went to my 1st steam fair for a long time.

Possibly one for Gibbo

Oldclassiccar.com is a superb resource of the sort of stuff I like. Had a paddle around the magazines section, and in the trade section came across this
From The Garage and Motor Agent September 19th 1955-An advert for a tyre wrapper....no one wraps tyres these days do they?

http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/classic- ... rapper.jpg

Heres the full list in the magazines section. Not just your usual available to the public ones but trade and manufacturers in-house and car clubs, hours of endless fun!

Why (& when) would a garage wrap tyres? I'd always assumed that back then,it was done by the manufacturer, presumably, to protect the product when in transit/storage.
