My missus does all the baking but this week I haven't been too clever. I should imagine it's good therapy, I might give it a go.

Dave, you're right. It is excellent therapy and I took up baking seriously when I was really badly ill a few years ago as it was something I could do despite my incapacity and something I enjoyed doing; it also relieved the boredom and the results were appreciated greatly by friends and family :D It's stuck as one of my favourite passions...

These days I cook virtually everything I eat from scratch and I know it's improved my general health immensely.

I utterly love fruit cake. I have developed quite a recipe over the years and you'd never believe what goes into one of my fruit cakes...

A slice is always on offer to visitors Dave, along with other items of baking from my kitchen

Baked my Christmas Cake last Saturday - it's now maturing :)

Did you ever try making those 'puffed bread bowls' I found the recipe for, Jim?

Three years! It will either be gorgeous or mouldy now Steve! Only one way to find out ;)

I only disclose that after people have tasted it and complemented me on the taste ;)

Yes it seems we have done a Mary Berry column, surprising how many members are closet bakers. Maybe the FCF AKA the Fancy Cake Forum!
Now, time to check on the coffee cake!

Coffee cake is something I've never baked Marc. I must as I love it...

Do you use Camp Coffee in it?

No Jim - it doesn't list that on the packet!! :rofl2:
Ok, I confess, it's a Betty Crocker packet job!

....Although I do customise the ingredients for variation, so does that count?

Yes, if you modify it then it definitely does count :D

Rule one: NEVER bake from a recipe as presented. ALWAYS modify it...

Recipe :?:

I loved the way my wife would bake things - she used to spend all day Sunday cooking and baking and her technique was to just chuck heaps of ingredients in the mix, never measured anything.

Surprisingly the results were never less than perfect, she was a very accurate judge of how much was enough. Even when innovating.

When I was a lad.... We lived in a corner shop in Brum.
My Mom, bless her soul, used to dress the windows a few times a year, she became quite good at it and she used to prop stuff up with some old Dundee cakes that were sealed in tins. They were about a foot in diameter (300mm for you young 'uns) And after many, many years (10?) she opened one and we ate it. Apart from the fact it was a little bit dry it tasted fine.
They don't make 'em like that any more. :rofl2:

Hi, boys!

I need to change the oil in the automatic gearbox. Can someone please help me determine what is the correct oil type for the my gearbox - HP20 (AG). In the user manual is written 9736 22 for V6 motors, but what about the oil manufacturer and specific oil type...

Thank you! Sorry, I know that I can search, but it's a bit hard for me reading long topics in English.
