Nice two-tone. Now that would look great in a photo next to the halfway house AA box
Might even make it to the Sidmouth Herald if you sent it in
The sort of continental equivalent made it to the whatsthisthen? Thread here

I had it sprayed that colour, it was pink (Mountain Rose ) when I bought it. The TV trade enabled you to do that in the '50-60s' a terrific shortage of engineers equated to good money. If you saw a teenager driving any sort of the car in the 50s he was probably a TV engineer.
Nice cars though, had one of the later ones without the fins as well. 2262 cc straight six 60.5 bhp, lots of torque though, drove like a diesel.

Re: Classic for under £10K-what would be nice?
a thing of some practicality for sure with its square corners.
I noted from looking on the website for photos and info that the size of the exhaust seems somewhat at odds with the little 1.3 A+ lump fitted.
Much as I'm no fan of the Griffin, that's a lovely looking FE Victor they've got.

Makes me think the worlds gone mad when a Morris 1000 pick up is worth more that a superb Bentley or Rolls.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Re: Classic for under £10K-what would be nice?
Thanks for the 1947 Rover Ten, Neil - lovely!
The dash on it is more or less identical to the 1935 'Ten' I had - so unchanged by Rover for more than 12 years! Most of the instruments were by Jaeger, so classic and the best.
The large chrome lever on the driver's door was a 'rapid opener' for the driver's window. A 90deg push on it lowered the window in an instant, essential for last-minute hand signals in gruesome British weather!
The two round knobs above the dash engaged, started and would park the wipers, which could be used independently, if required.
The winder above the dashboard opened the windscreen (which was hinged at the top) and would allow the screen to be opened fully horizontal. (I had to remember on mine not to use the screen washers I had fitted, with the screen ajar. )
Speaking of jars, under the bonnet (LH side in the photo) was the Luvax automatic chassis lubricator. Driven by engine vacuum, this slowly dispensed heavy oil to all the main suspension and steering joints, via a network of small brass/copper pipes, each with a tiny mesh-filtering elbow at the receiving end. The same system was used on buses for some decades.
Above the engine sits the large air filtering canister. Full of wire mesh, this was kept permanently oily by fumes from the rocker cover; excess oil ran back into the tappet area.
I think the upholstery would originally have been Connolly dark bottle green, and the green coachline probably wasn't there.
The 'Ten' was one of Rover's smaller family saloons, and it's interesting to see how it was reshaped from pre-war to post-war, not least acquiring a boot to replace the earlier pull-out luggage rack...

Re: Classic for under £10K-what would be nice?
within budget it can really only be the pink Caddy.
...but also rather fancy the CX Familiale, the Volvo 123GT and (I surprise myself!) the HC Viva....
...Vauxhall OMG, call the men in white coats!
Money no object, either the Datsun 240Z or the yellow BMW 3.0CSi
Amazed by the amount of Classics out on the road this afternoon. In the course of a 50mile journey spotted TR7 Convertible, MGB, Lotus Europa, Merc Pagoda, Triumph GT6 Mk1 and an Austin Metro VDP. Surprised to find the Metro (in gleaming condition) kept up with me up Birdlip Hill then passed me at 80mph ish. Good to see a clearly loved car getting driven properly.

Rather fancy that Bentley 8 . . . but not the idea of its fuel bill (R-R 6.75L V8 auto)!

that Dodge Campervan was as spectacularly cheap as it is ugly.
