Give it a little time. People may be away for the weekend. I am not able to help you myself, as I have not used a Dispatch.

I don't know if this is the same as your 1.6Hdi, but Citroen list about an hour and a quarter to remove and refit.

Thanks for that, looks the same, and this morning it wouldn’t start first time, holding the key and turning ignition off and on a few times got it going, so it looks like the starter or solenoid is knackered, , going to try and get it done at the garage, as I need it for long trip on Wednesday ,and can’t risk taking it if it’s not going to start . Need to be somewhere by 9 am Thursday. Does it sound like lazy starter or starter switc to you?

I had to replace the starter motor om my C5. I got a Bosch reconditioned motor from GSF for around £120, but I got back around half of that when I returned the old motor in the packaging. The problem with mine was that it was getting slower and taking longer to start. When I fired up the new one I thought the whole car would turn over, it spun up that fast! :D

Not unknown for IGN switches themselves to fail to connect, and intermittently.
Worth checking there's voltage on the switch-to-starter cable when key is turned to crank?

Starters aren't too bad on then. Fiddley.

Get bettery and battery box out, some air piping for top bolt. Bottom two arent so bad, wiring is easy.

It can come out without taking any exhaust stuff off, shoehorn it out the drivers side of the exhaust pipe gap near the bottom engine mount.

Only go for a good starter, don't want issues when pitting them back in. Leave bottom two bolts undone before putting top in.

Not a bad job when you've done a few. Remeber first time i was most irritated how mich stuff was in the way etc.

Ok, let's try Starter this time and not Alternator (it was a long day) :-D

So wait 15 minutes before disconnecting battery so ECUs can memorise data.
  • Disconnect the battery.
  • Place the vehicle on a lift.
  • Remove the under engine protection.
Rich Starter A.PNG
Rich Starter B.PNG
Remove:
  • The (1) bolt
  • The air duct (2)
Remove bolts (3).
Rich Starter C.PNG
Rich Starter D.PNG
  • Remove the nuts (5) and (6).
  • Unscrew nut (4) (if necessary).
  • Move aside the starter electrical harness .
Remove:
  • The 2 bolts (8)
  • The starter motor (7)
  • Move aside the electrical harness (9) support.
Refitting

Note: Check that the centring pin is present (at "a").

Refit:
  • The starter motor (7)
  • The electrical harness support (9)
  • The 2 bolts (8) ; Tighten to 2 ± 0,3 daN.m
  • The starter electrical harness
  • The nut (5) ; Tighten to 1 ± 0,2 daN.m
  • The nut (6) ; Tighten to 0,5 ± 0,1 daN.m
  • The nut (4)
Proceed in the reverse order to removal.
  • Tighten the bolt (8) to 2 ± 0,3 daN.m.
    Refit the under-engine protection.
There you go! :-D

:rofl2: Oh, what a top hat! I think I had alternators on the brain from helping somebody else recently and lost the plot there!

I’ll sort that shortly and update that previous post!
