Right this is the P2084 which means that the temperature recorded 'Downstream' of the catalytic converter is not right and the P2083 is similar but refers to the 'Upstream' temperature.
So it would be very odd for both of these sensors to be faulty at the same time - so I suspect it is symptomatic of the emissions system - these sensors are really to protect the Cat from too much heat. As you can see, the back up mode in this state will prevent a forced regeneration, as this would add to the heat generated. It is supposed to be an intermittent fault, but if it is regularly coming on, it will need further diagnostics to determine the issue.

What sort of mileage has she done?

Do you do a lot of short journeys?

When was the last time you took it for a good spin? You could try going for a 30 minute spin, keeping it in 4th so the revs remain highish and see if that will clear it out.

Edit: Corrected P2086 - should of been 2083

It's the other way round, Marc - the sensor is to ensure the exhaust temp is hot enough to start the regen - hence regen being inhibited if it's faulty. This is the same error I picked up on John's a few weeks ago, his went away though! New sensor was £125 iirc....

I mistyped the error code Richard  (now corrected) - the second one should of been P2083 (not P2086) which is the upstream one I believe and should indicate when there is excessive heat. Temperature values intermittent from what I can see. You’d think with all the sensors now they’d be able to be a little more specific! :)

Are there two EGT's, I thought they only needed the one?

Yes, a tired battery can be cause all sorts of wierdness and trigger fault codes without there being any other problem.
Add the fact the specified faults (above) "disappears" simply by turning the ignition on, you may find it returning soon anyway.

What's an EGT Mike? ^

If you mean EGR - no just the one. The fault in question relates to the gas temperature sensor - not the differential pressure pipes:
X7 Gas Temp Sensor.PNG
(2) is the gas temp sensor, with the differential pressure pipes shown at (6), and the differential pressure sensor at (1).

The fault will prevent a forced regeneration from being undertaken with Diagbox (due to the additional heat generated) - but should still allow a normal regeneration to take place.

It's what I call the sensor, Marc.

Edit to add, after you edited your post Marc,

Exhaust Gas Temperature. In your data it's referrred to PEF temperature but I still call it EGT as that's what Diagbox calls it.

Got you! :-D So as you can now see from the diagram I added, it shows the one sensor for the temperature.

That's what I was getting at. There is no up AND downstream sensor, just the one.

Both related to the temp sensor, looks like it will need to changed. Should be easy enough on a set of ramps.
