daviemck2006 wrote: 14 Apr 2018, 20:30 Bonding is a strange thing. I didn’t bond with my activa, however I bonded with Gabby nearly immediately and I have no plans to get rid. I think the only thing I would consider to replace it would be a xantia v6 auto.

It is strange isn't it. That was the issue I had with my last Skoda. I don't think there's any real reason for it...just never really got attached to it, which made every challenge it presented me with seem far more insurmountable.

The Activa however was the polar opposite - which will be a right old challenge when the time inevitably comes to further shuffle the fleet.
Current fleet:

Car removed for clarity...

Alasdair, what's the legality of these lights given the MoT regulations concerning after-market HID conversions?

I'd think that as the light units themselves are properly designed for HIDs and the car has self-levelling suspension then all should be OK...

Looking good though :)

These lamp units are not HID Jim, they are "modular" halogen units using standard 55w H7 bulbs, the lamp modules are from Hella and carry all the required standards. Regarding the "modified mounting" I have not got a clue, I will wing that bit as the MOT makes no comment on it. :)

Ahh, sorry Alasdair, I had the idea well fixed in my mind they were HIDs..

On that basis they should be no problem at all at MoT time then...

Which Hella units were they, Alasdair?
Being H7 (single filament), how was a dipped beam achieved?

I have two Dip and two Main units. (inner=main / outer= dip)

Any 90mm unit should fit so it will be a personal choice if LED or other 90mm units are used, there are lots to choose from.
