Aldi and Lidl problem for me is, nearest Lidl an awkward 14 mile round trip, next nearest, easier route 19 mile round trip and I've no idea where the nearest Aldi is, probably a 42 mile round trip to Gloucester.

Tesco 5 mile round trip down the main road and always well stocked.

The price on the shelf isn't the only thing to consider, getting there and back doesn't come free.

Absolutely, I've always maintained that most people will shop at their local supermarket; although, for a while I drove past Sainsbury's to go to Lidl's (& not just because of the former have been ripping us off for years) - & now I resolutely set off in the opposite direction (to a Lidl's that'll still have one till open after 7:00 pm!).

It's a bit different in Torbay, where Lidl's is in the town centre - unlike all the others (except Tesco, which simply doesn't exist any more, save as an "Express")

Agreed I have very sensitive skin and have to take extreme care of my hands - hence always working on cars in gloves and always washing up using Marigolds - so I get through loads of hand cream and find the Aldi ones quite excellent

Very true... I live in a town that has no supermarkets at all and my nearest in any direction is 5 miles - In that radius I have a choice of Tesco, Waitrose and Aldi.

Aldi is the easiest of the three for me to get to... And generally the least hassle... To me that is critically important.

In Aldi (again) this evening I saw they had Bosch wiper blades for a couple of quid - I wish I had known what sizes mine are.

I was in one on Saturday - went to the wrong one, forgot my shopping list (as usual) but worse forgot my glasses so just chucked mainly random crap in the trolley.
Last items out of the trolley were a dozen eggs - which I dropped on the floor - eggy mess everywhere. Checkout girl wasn't in the least bothered and refused to charge for them despite it being my clumsiness.

Then went to M&S for Vegan wine and venison. Came out with neither, but two chickens, six sausages and some tulips - that cost a third of what I had paid in Aldi for a weeks groceries for two families!

That sounds like a particularly tough episode of one of those TV cookery shows :
"These are your ingredients and you've got just 45 minutes to come up with a three course meal -
12 broken eggs, 2 chickens, 6 sausages, some tulips and some incorrectly sized Bosch wiper blades.

. . . but, as a special concession, we'll give you 10 minutes to find your glasses - or go back to Aldi & buy another pair!

Seriously, though I'll pop in there on Saturday, see if they've got any 19" wipers (save me having to keep putting a Jeep one on the C15 for its MoT) as that price compares well with with Trico ones in Trago Mills at, about 10p an inch.

Most wine producers using a "fining agent" to get rid of the cloudiness and crud. It's often casein, albumen or gelatine. All non-vegan. It's all removed during the process when the haze is removed, but vegans perhaps think some of it will be absorbed into the wine.

Isinglas is also used.... which is produced from dried fish swim bladders Who on earth thought that up????
