No, 100% vegan and after eating it I'd never run or cycled so fast in my life!
That reminds me of the day the guy in the workshop put petrol in the cat's bowl, it went round and round so fast you could hardly see it, then dropped silently to the ground,
Dead? Nah! run out of petrol.

I think it's an insult to suggest people can be influenced and that people don't know what they are voting for!
Really? So the Daily Mail and it's (proven) lies doesn't influence anyone? Or the Guardian? Or the Express? Or the Mirror?... the entire media is designed to influence people!
The amount of tub-thumping, easy to believe mis-information on Facebook is tremendous Marc, and far easier to access than a newspaper.

I suspect that might have something to do with all the gas from those veggies Jim

Re: Forums still dead ?
Wasn't referring to papers Mike - only the data used to attempt to influence people via targeted ads and the like. And no, I choose not to read the papers - I used to , but prefer to make my own decisions based on what I see in real life and what people say and do - not what I read. As for adverts - I cannot abide any advertising. I literally mute / switch channels / switch off any ads and prefer not to watch any terrestrial TV these days, not do I tolerate websites with excessive ads - my ad blockers do a cracking job thanks.Michel wrote: 26 Mar 2018, 17:49GiveMeABreak wrote: 26 Mar 2018, 16:57

I don't think the papers mentioned actually influence people, they just pander to their already held opinions.

Targeted advertising is nothing new. It's been on forever. Toys during kids TV hours, club 18-30 in The Sun but not the Guardian, and that sort of thing.
On another note, see attached pic. Now, give me a good reason why this is in my facebook data archive?

If you have WhatsApp and have linked your Facebook A/C then it's likely that anyone who are your 'friends' or your 'friends-friends' have access to anything shared now or in the past too. I say that because it is showing numbers via WhatsApp.
I see a lot of people have now dumped FB and closed their accounts - and Mr 'Z' is probably wincing a little after the some reports show Facebook has lost $100 billion in 10 days — and now advertisers are pulling out!

Non WhatsApp ... below, it also has this for SMS and MMS - I don't use FB Messenger for either of these..

I think it's probably a good idea to check your other App settings Mike - especially any you have given permission to access your contacts. You may be surprised if you go through tour privacy settings on your phone and see what apps currently have access to this sort of date - sometimes installing apps in a hurry can result in accidentally granting permissions access to camera, phone contacts etc.
Everytime I install a Beta revision or revert to a public software version of IOS I routinely have to do this as the default settings will often be applied.

They're all locked down Marc, that's what's disconcerting... I'm very fussy about what has access to what, given I work in a data centre with access to a huge amount of personal patient data..

I completely understand.
I would consider maybe a new email account and then create some aliases - so you can use these for any social media sites /shopping accounts and protect your real email address - they can always be 'switched off' if the spam or junk becomes excessive and that will be the end of them. Also if practical and you are concerned, maybe a new mobile number?
Unfortunately, once this data is out there it is probably already on a stack of other people's apps and other sites being sold on.

That's the issue he was talking about earlier today on the news Steve, I posted about it earlier in the thread. I find it all quite creepy

Re: Forums still dead ?
Realised that later Marc - I posted after only scanning the headline.
Should look before I leap
Incidentally, my eldest is a senior librarian and information systems manager at one of our local universities and has frequently mentioned that Facebook is an excellent source of information - if only people would learn to use it that way instead of flooding it with crap. Lots of professional literature available.
I still have no desire to venture there.

Re: Forums still dead ?
How can it be right that my contact details and - quite possibly - text messages that I've sent to friends are on FBs servers when I've never had anything to do with FB, or any other of the social media apps ? FCF is as far 'into' social media as I ever want to go, and I have no interest in FB, Twitter, Whatsapp, or any other cleverly designed data-acquiring peer-pressure driven apps....... yet still my 'data' has been mined.
