Voted on the battery, not sure that has any relevance to a C5x7...

Also, maybe add FRIP joints and Fan motor ?

Only other thing has been gearbox stop/park/select solenoid.

The only thing on that list was the steering rack.
And the battery but it was more like 5 or 6 years old.
No FAP problem but the fluid did need topping up a tad early.

On top of that.
Aux belt pulley had to be replaced and the replacement was getting noisy when we sold it.
Recurring injector fault(s) which I never found the cause of.
Lots of suspension bushes and tracking which didn't seem to be able to stay aligned for very long.
DRL blew so I just turned them off - too much hassle to replace both with LEDs and too expensive to replace one with the genuine part.
Not the turbo but the air doser valve.
The end went missing off the dipstick.

Of all the Citroens I have owned it was by far the least reliable. Great car when it was running though.

Good idea - Being the sort of person I am, I am sitting here with a smile on my face :-D , thinking my car is in a fairly good condition, rather than a sad face :( thinking oh-my god [-o< is that going to go next.................... but useful to know what to keep an eye out for.

I think it should be rolled out for other vehicles.

Thanks Stu - all entries welcomed, even from current DS5 owners :-D

The current Poll facility is quite limited in that we cannot do more with it other than what is shown - I would like to have had a little more detail and analysis, but it's not possible with the built in Poll unfortunately. :(

Try it now Paul, by going to the Poll and seeing if the options are now active - let me know when you have updated your response. It looks like I have to manually override the permission in another location.

Yep, that works now. The "Submit Vote" button is there again.

Thanks Paul. I've assumed you've hit the button now after correcting.

I suspect I'll have to do the same for David H so he can register his BHI as that's an important statistic.

So as expected, the largest failure rate so far is the Steering rack, closely followed by the front suspension strut (which I am now having to get done on mine when it arrives from Poland) - but half the current Citroen price of £344

I know my front suspension strut will never fail like yours, Marc, as mine is on steel. But not to be outdone - I had a front coil spring go on it a year or two ago
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

True! But I can still drive with it as the leak is only slight at present - (not that I am at present), but I do wonder - If these C6 / X7 hydraulic struts don't have the front leak back pipes like the MK I & IIs, there has been suggestion that the strut gaiter just has extra seals / clamps to stop the oil leaking out - but without ever seeing one internally, I doubt it is this simple or we would all be investing in Jubilee clips to cure the problem....

I've added my faults which are the most common, but considering the mileage is now at 205k it's been the best car I have ever owned in over 30 years of motoring. It still doesn't rattle or squeak!

I still have my failed strut lying on the floor of the garage, maybe I should get around to performing that autopsy I promised to see how it actually failed :o
