Students of this thread may well remember the appearance of Brigitte Bardot riding a Velosolex

Can you have too much of that? Apologies for repeating myself, but some new viewers to the thread may have missed the original post :-D

Moved one of the FCF's giltterati to wish to be "re-incarnated as a saddle!"

Regards Neil

PS apologies to the younger members of the FCF who may be thinking Brigitte who? Never heard of her :!:

nearly as good as my little Sally :)

These really are superb little cars... One of the very best along with the 205 and AX...

AX and 205 still outdo it though... They're still simply the best...

Now some of the Classic Car auctions think they are a little more up market and "selective" over what they auction.

Here's one fron H&H' s selection....very nice looking thing but taking us at least 50% over the thread title!

Yes its a Peugeot 205 CTi...is that just a GTi with a soft top?

37 cars in a variation of "dull" colours (white, black, silver etc or other colours as dark enough that they may as well be black).
It seems to be a UK market thing. I'm in agreement with you except re white, and we noticed while in France that instead of the 'fifty shades of grey' most commonly seen here, white and 'colours' occurred often.

Maybe the manufacturers think.us Brits are boring

Don't worry Zel, I do it too. I seem to recall that the 1970s Leopards I travelled on regularly in the 90's were a damn sight more comfortable than the recentish Megabus I was on last week. First and last time i leave the car at home.

They were usually VDV 700ish T !

Yes, a soft-top 1.6 GTi

 Gosh! the estimate on that is outrageous!

Not so long ago they went for a lot less than a standard GTi because of the manifold aggros with the soft-top - leaks and subsequent rust...

A garage is essential...

Yes Jim you find that where the cars in the auction are have arty photos outside a stately home the anticipated price goes up by about ten grand :-D :-D

Barons Classic Car Auctions at their Classic Winter Warmer on 27th February at Sandown Park do have the occasional arty shot but down the list is also a Peugeot 205 GTi on at a more modest estimate

Just came across this website which could prove useful if looking at classic cars sold at auction

https://www.glenmarch.com/

Describes itself as "The resource for classic & collector car auctions"

and its quite comprehensive covering up coming auctions and results from all the classic car auctions. Has a very useful car search. Pulled up some results for "Sunbeam Alpine" and out popped a list of sales results. Here's an other example of sales results for "Renault Caravelle" yes and its up to date with the recent Brightwell's JLR sale.

I think with them you need to have a genuinely unmolested example, all factory original to get the bigger money, most of those examples just pass between collectors!
