I must admit I've not read a newspaper in years...
I don't really follow the news in any great or serious detail... It's too stressful/depressing...

Re: Snow good!
The problem with newspapers nowadays is that they contain very little 'news' the politically aligned ones have some news on the front page slanted to their readership's taste and the rest is just the sort of stuff, gossip etc. that you would find in any ladies magazine.

Ditto that Jim - sick of the bias and the 'fake news'. I now switch on the news on the TV only to scan channels - for the main bits - but these are so biased too IMO.
I now tend to tune in to You tube to get coverage of things you won't normally see on terrestrial - like certain debates in the European Parliament - which are often better than any entertainment show! I like to make up my own mind without the unavoidable editorial 'slant'
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Re: Snow good!
For the politics I like to watch BBC Parliament, not PMQs though as it's just a point scoring competition, I like the debates and the committee enquiries where you can see members really doing what they're paid for.
On the whole I think most politicians are genuine people who are not simply 'in it for the money' but like the rest of the community there are good and bad.

I thought up a Hell specifically for Max Clifford! He is eternally trapped inside a bubble with no way to communicate with the outside (and with the outside being completely unaware of his existence), watching all sorts of secretive things he would like to be able to publicize to all and sundry.

Ah ! But think of the fun satan could have making up the stories to be printed in The Sun![]()

One is given to think he already does that... And for the Mail and Express...
Now now Jim, stop being politically selective, the Mirror, the Independent, the Guardian et al are all at it, pandering to their target audience to sell their tat.
They skew to their target audience, but they do it without the hatred, xenophobia, racism and downright lies of the likes of the Mail and Express.
I have a friend who lost her niece in the Grenfell Tower fire (Jessica, the girl who was on every front page and TV piece about it for a while). The Mail printed a page long, emotional, upsetting interview with her mum.
No one from the family, mother, father, sister or anyone else had spoken to any reporters. It was complete and utter bullshit and caused no end of upset.

No, he is in the bubble all on his own. He liked to spout off smut to other people. Being unable to interact with ANYBODY in any way is what makes it a perfect Hell for him.

Re: Snow good!
Just been out walking the dog. All of the residential streets around here are *still* scenes of utter chaos despite the snow having been melting since midnight, and mostly being just a slushy mess on the roads. The guy in the Audi bouncing it off the rev limiter wedged sideways against the kerb was somewhat entertaining to watch for a while. If he backed off the revs and reversed a couple of feet he'd have clear tarmac...think he'd got as far as fourth gear at one point, the cloud of tyre smoke was something you'd expect at a drifting contest.
We really do need this more often down here as we've no idea how to deal with it, and the local authorities have in many cases ditched all the kit needed to provide for it. None of our side roads have still been gritted or ploughed.
I was very relieved to discover that the school round the corner was closed today, otherwise I was seriously expecting to find someone having embedded their car in one of mine and/or the front of the house. That's based on the usual level of stupidity seen on a normal day and the utter mayhem a couple of years back when we had a 1/2" dusting...

Well, while you were able to change the oil under cover, that F***ING oil filter was somewhat more difficult!

Nope, I wasn't that bothered. It is just the webbing that broke, and if I can get hold of some more, and get it securely stitched, it will be simple to fix.
