Privelige is Direct Line by a different name to allow them to be on comparision sites. Ive been with them for years, they were absolutely brilliant when I did claim 3 years ago. Although I have trade insurance the 107 is insured on my policy with Shaun as a named driver. It recently renewed at 350 ish, and doing a comparasion the next closest was well over 500. I would happily recommend them to anyone.

Adrian Flux wanted just under £500.
The email said their lowest quotes are always by telephone!
Makes me feel sorry for deaf people.
Why is that though. What's the point in getting a quote online, then phoning up for a cheaper one. I'm sure they must have a reason, probably commercial, but I'm damned if I can fathom it out.
Surely giving a whopping great , uncompetitive quote online is more likely to put people off, rather than want to phone up. Even on the phone, I doubt whether they would drop the price by over 50%.

I think it's more likely that they do well with that from people who look no further, a case of if you can't be bothered to ask you don't get.

Exactly - just like switching phone or energy providers - some people are just not willing (or have sufficient confidence or ICT skills / access to the web) to change and others are not easily able to. So they stay where they are and get ripped off - another reason why the Government are getting the energy companies to move people onto lower tariffs automatically. It's outrageous that they have been able to get away with it for so long - especially with 'vulnerable' people.

Some are just too lazy or can't be bothered - which is fine and their choice - I was one of those many years ago until I realised actually how much I was being ripped off - not I check everything on principle.

The trouble with insurance is that every person and situation is different. qprdude has just moved away from the AA whilst I have just gone with them.

Energy is a bit more stable but it'll still vary by where you live as it's based on the old Electricity Board areas. Generally speaking you won't get the best deal by going with the successor to that Electricity Board although sometimes if you're involved with a group buy that can be overcome.

Internet will depend on what you want: broadband only, phone with broadband or phone only (very rare nowadays). And then if you're taking phone whether you want any inclusive calls. Then there is the complication for some areas where Virgin cable is also available. They tend to not be very competitive for phone call charges but can be the only way to get true broadband only.

Frankly, the best way is to use the comparison sites and cashback sites. I'm also a great fan of the Money Saving Expert site, even though that is now owned by MoneySupermarket.com.

I don't think I have been with a single insurer or energy company for more than 4 consecutive years. I've returned to a previously used company if they had the best deal for me. Customers should have absolutely no loyalty to suppliers as it is obvious that new business is king.

I seriously need to shop around come May. Adrian Flux are currently robbing me for £1300 a year between the Activa and 107 and seem to think this is reasonable. No commuting or work use, and less than 10K a year between them...I don't think so!

That's ridiculous, even by motor insurance standards.
My son has an Audi A5, a 3 series BMw estate and an Audi Quattro classic and the total insurance is less than that!

Get on the comparison sites in March.

To be honest I'm hoping I'll have a quiet day next week - It's entirely possible with how much they're charging that even with the inevitable early cancellation fees that I'd still be quids in. Or that the threat of it will make them play ball...

Should add that this is just basic comprehensive cover, no breakdown cover, NCD protection or anything like that either...

Do you have an agreed valuation for the Activa? You won't get agreed valuation through comparison sites.

Insurance renewal time again.
Letter from LV (current insurers) £267, down from £305 last year.

Email from the meercat or one of his buddies - £318.71 from LV.

Just insured mine again for another year with privilege, 3 years on the trott as they have always been the best deal, protected NCB & nothing else special. However, this years went from quoted £326 to actual £293, I noticed a mistake on the policy, I had actually owned the car a year longer than I had told them, so 1 year of ownership = £33!

I don't bother with breakdown, I trust both my cars, but, I guy I work with says he lets his AA cover expire by about 2 days each time, so he is eligible for new customer deals, how true that is I don't know but is sounds possible, anyone up for the challenge?

Note:- Customer satisfaction surveys, if you get a text message asking to complete the survey, check the charges first as they are about £1 a message!

Insurance seems to have gone down this year, or at least ours has. I checked the comparison sites a couple of years ago and the prices had gone potty so I insured with Direct line as they were cheaper. We have been with them for three years now, I have just renewed my wife's policy on her 206 Hdi 2.0. estate and it was about £188, I'm waiting to see what my 406 comes in at.
