2009 C5 Windscreen trim

Post by 09c5 »

The nearside windscreen trim has become detached from my car, this is the colour coded strip that runs up the side of the windscreen. Is it possible to buy one of these from Citroen in the correct colour or will I have to get it resprayed when I buy it? Also, I notice that this was a recall originally - does anyone know if a replacement will be covered under the recall?

Hi I believe there is a recall on this would suggest you look at the Citroen web site they have a free recall service, you enter your car and it will tell you if there are recalls :-D

Ok, so I've just had my windscreen replaced and underneath the trim are a load of interspaced trim clips. These were replaced by the windscreen company at the time.
The part numbers are:
For the trim itself (part: 8120 Y8) @ £82.38 inc. VAT
For each Clip (part: 8110 25) @ 0.61p each inc. VAT and you will need 5 of these
So in total £71.20 Ex VAT (£85.43 Inc. VAT)
However, this part will require painting to your car - so add on whatever a body shop will charge you unless you're feeling brave and fancy getting the primer, paint & lacquer made up - so it's probably cheaper and easier to get it done for you.
The last option is to try and track a trim down from the breakers in your colour (they simply unclip off and on - and just buy a new set of trim clips from Citroen for £3 :-D

How weird, mine tried its best to leave the rest of the car just a couple of weeks ago. I just glued it back on.

I'd email Citroen and ask them what they can do about it. If it's a known fault there's every chance they'll do a deal or work gratis. Dont count on it though.

I'd be a bit cautious about gluing it on in case you have to have your windscreen replaced and trying to remove it causes more damage to the trim.

If you mention the fact that it flew off into rear traffic on the motorway and the recall issue they may well be sympathetic. Mention the 'elf &safety' issue and the damage it nearly caused!

chaps mine has been flapping for a year.. very annoying! I bought some new clips and they arrived this am.. until now I have been using white duct tape, which worked ok..

I have stuck the trim to the black undertrim, and will try and fit as a pair now, wish me luck! presumably I can fit the 5 yellow clips, then slide the rest into those?

Here's some info John in case it helps:

John Windscreen Trim Clips 2.PNG
Unclip the tabs at "a" of the clips (2) starting at the bottom and detach towards the outside ; Using tool [1].
Remove : The windscreen aperture pillar trims (1).

all done Marc :) thanks

so, the two star washers that held the steel trim to the undertrim, one had become detached.. hence the flapping of the trim.. I took outer and under trims off (earlier in week), re-attached the white upper trim and reused the star washers, compressed them on.. I also bonded that part to lower trim with siko,
now I just added the five clips, offered the whole panel up, clickety-click

I noticed that the lower windscreen scuttle had become raised and set that back down again..

phew, nice job! 1 year of misery, and £4 to sort!!

Nicely done John - and I have to assume you have not customised your C5 for a soft top either? :-D

My near side trim has flown away but I note the 8120y8 code appears to be for offside (right) trim. Any help on left side part no. would be gratefully received?
