Its interesting to see the focus of advertising. Not that impressed with that Audi offering from an academic point of view as I am never going to be one of Audi's target market. Modern Car advertising is more about more selling a lifestyle and less 0-60/mpg/ or how comfortable the seats are.

Take Hiro the DJ for example, lifestyle totally integrated with his car, and not even a steering wheel..

They’ve all got active suspension systems and are constantly improving them. The new Audi one even runs on small electric motors. The point being there is still lots of development in the field, but PSA have lost interest and given up on active suspension. All that expertise down the drain.

I still envy the ride of the SM Maserati - as seen in this 'The Smoking Tire' video of an American example - taking a chap out for a spin in one - you can just see how it wafts along...(ignore the first 25 seconds). Great if you have straightish roads - but who cares - lovely car and such poise and presence.

The older and more laid-back I get, I want complex less and less in all spheres of my life, especially cars...

Nowadays even a Xantia is too complex... And as for my 207 with its multiplex and so on :evil: Good job it seems to work...

I'm the same with bikes... I want nothing to do with disc brakes, electronic dérailleurs and the like...

I like simple and straightforward :)

Bring back carbs, points and wind-up windows I say ;)

I followed a rather nice 1.9TD 306 yesterday, and thought of you, Jim. Still an elegant car.
Had to smile at your "in all spheres..." Spoken as a real Citroeniste!

Cracking cars Chris :) Just a big 205 and has all the characteristics of its little sister...

Better car in my opinion than the 207 is... Seats are more comfy for a start!!!

I'd still have one in a heartbeat :)

:lol: Yes. As the Saxo, according to the insurance people, is an SX so not 100% poverty-spec...

Funny really, back along I lusted after high-specification cars with all the luxuries and toys and now I'm utterly just the opposite and adore poverty-spec and the more poverty the better :)

I'm not sure where and when or why the change happened... I think Gabriel (Gabby) had a big influence...

I concur with Jim, the simpler the better, I run two 8 valve Hdi 406's and they very rarely wrong and if they do, so far I have been able to fix them.

I won't even buy and auto defrost fridge because it's the 'auto' bit that goes wrong and writes them off.

Hey! You slagged me for adjusting points, carbs and rear brakes on my ser 11 Landy, saying you could not go back to that :shock: It was about 7 yrs ago though.
Ach well...........we are all allowed to change our mind....as we get on a bit! :lol:
