James has the answer Kenny
S2 models generally have a fan (blower) relay fitted but not all according to my wiring diagrams...elma wrote: 28 Sep 2017, 18:20 On a MK1,

Headlamps
Fan motor.
Not sure if the MK2 needs the headlamp one or not.
Better than an S1 for sure but they can still benefit from the relay mod in my experience Timmo..

Re: xantia hdi starter motor
Would the headlight mod stop the momentary dimming as the alternator takes over from the battery ( i assume) about 1-5 min after starting? I considered the mod years ago but discounted it after reading some posts here and the momentary dip in power wasn't really noticeable on the silver. But now the Blue one, in the winter has a noticable dip in power which carries on for the first 5 miles or so. Its worth considering for her.
Thanks Jim, I'll get my man to look at the diagram and see what he can do...I'm not too good with car electrics.

Re: xantia hdi starter motor
I think that's caused by the glowplugs turning off.
Potentially it could help with that but not certainly.
The mods easy but doing it neatly is time consuming.
I'm yet to find connectors I like for the purpose.

Re: xantia hdi starter motor
Chris, as the headlight relay mod takes the feed direct from the battery it will help but I'd also be checking the usual Xantia battery clamp issues as a bit of resistance here will have the same effect.
Also when doing the headlight mod run new and heavy earths direct from the lamps to a nearby chassis point... The earth connections are often the biggest offenders for dim lights.
