Did you allow all Firewall requests?
Did you plug the VCI into ALL the laptop's USB ports and allow the USB Evolution drivers to install on every port?
Did it confirm activation?
Is the C5 in Economy mode preventing dialogue?
Is your VCI fully CAN compatible (does it have ALL the hardware needed to work with the C5)?
Have you tested whether there is any communication on another non-C5 PSA vehicle?

Other factors: Specification of Laptop (CPU type and clock speed, Memory, Storage). Is it a 32 or 64 bit version of XP? Have you patched it up to SP3 with a standalone Service pack installer (as no updates available now)?
Is the VCI working and are the pin connectors in the cable making contact.
As you no doubt have experienced - there are many factors that will determine whether it will install / activate / work.

I have a feeling that the laptop's the problem, it's a Dell, eleven years old, I tried Windows 7 on it too but lots of problems there and the nice guy at Dell told me that the laptop wasn't designed for anything other than XP.

Reinstalled XP including the SP3 update then Internet explorer ceased to work, it's running IE8 which apparently it can't do with XP SP3, needs no later than IE6 which won't load without removing IE8 a fiddle with the registry task that I'm not up to.

The Lexia kit was bought through here from Easy Diagnostics some long time ago when I think an offer to buy a batch was put up by........ ?was it DougieG?

I've never had cause to use it until now.

I've just done a fresh XP install........again but blocked the automatic updates, I'll have another go later to install Diagbox.

The cars not in economy mode and I haven't had the Lexia on any other car to try it, yet, problem is I only have my regular C5 as an alternative.

A less patient man would have taken an axe to it by now.

So, I put the old Dell laptop aside, installed a VM with XP on my Win 10 HP laptop and installed Diagbox up to 7.44 and the result:

Have you downgraded Diagbox to 7.02 Gibbo? If you have an older VCI (Revision B) it might just about work with the base 7.02 version.

Also, make sure you are running Diagbox as administrator.

If you installed it in a virtual machine, you need to make sure the virtual machine is configured to "pass through" the USB device from the host operating system - check in device manager in XP to make sure you see an ACTIA device that is installed without any error.

Hello,

I want to buy a Lexia for my 2013 C4 1.6 eHdi, but i am not sure what version Lexia and diagbox i should buy, so that it would work on my car?
I had a problem at a non-dealer shop when i brought the car in for a gearbox calibration - their Lexia did not agree with my car, so that's why i'm asking.

I am running Easy Diagnostics latest offering. VCI is fully chipped and running V 7.5?. Works well on our '63 1.6 HDi C4 Picasso Excl.

I have one from an AliExpress vendor https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/2016-New ... 61755.html which seems to be fully equipped and good quality (works with my 2011 Pugeot 308).

Just be aware that if you are getting this for the EGS gearbox, there has already been another member that was thinking of purchasing one of the updated newer versions for his 1.6 eHDi, but was informed by Easydiagnostics (who a lot of Forum members purchase their kits from) that there is an issue with the kit picking up the gearbox ECU on these systems:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46686&hilit=lexia&start=960#p520169
So unless anyone else has tried it on a C5 X7 with EGS gearbox, you might find the same problem.

I thought it was worth mentioning as you had the eHDi! If you were going to buy a Lexia anyway for general - then nothing lost, but just for this particular operation, then it might be a bit of a gamble.

Hello everyone!
I´ve got similar problems to Gibbo2286, my Lexia(Diagbox) doesn't connect to some PSA cars.

The kit was bought from Easy Diagnostics early last year, software is installed on a 32-bit Win 7 Lenovo laptop.
Software version installed is 8.17 , VCI Firmware is 4.2.9
It works on my current 2004 C5 I (pre facelift) and on a 2002 Pug 307.

But on the 4 different C5 II`s (facelift) and a Pug 308 I've tried it on, it won´t work. On the C5´s "Dialogue" come up as "NO", with the exception of the suspension ECU and after checking it with SCANTOOL (which works) the engine ECU might come up...

Jim from EasyDiagnostics even went though it via team viewer a few times, with no luck. Firewalls checked etc..
I have also tried changing the VCI firmware, which can be a cause for this.

Is there something wrong with my VCI possibly? Or is it incompatible with the Lexia/Diaxbox Version?
Can check the VCI somehow? ,PSA Interface checker? Visually?

Regards Mikael

Hi Mikael, welcome to the Forum.

I suspect that your Diagbox software version might be too high. Try downgrading it to 7.58 by applying the 7.02 update and then the updates you have to 7.58. There are known issues with the Peugeot 308s and C5s with some VCIs. The 7.58 Diagbox update was released in Nov 2014, so should be more than adequate for vehicles up to this year and also contains the 'Lexia' software embedded within Diagbox - so you may be offered a choice of application.

There is of course the possibility that the VCI is missing some chips - or that a wire / pin on the cable is not making contact.

The fact that the Lexia is an Easy Diagnostics unit should suggest it has a full chipset. My unit (which is an earlier one from them) has worked on a C5 X7, while running Diagbox 7.15.
