That must be quite rare. The great thing about the Austin 7 is that most parts you can make yourself. We have a friend with one that's been in the family since it was new, he doesn't go out in it very often but if you find a long slow moving queue on the A35 near Axminster - it could be him.

The blue plaque, to commemorate some person or event is a common 'notice' around many towns and villages.

Bus tours around "Catherine Cookson Country" used to stop and ceremoniously photograph the plaque erected on the industrial estate, where the house the Author used to live in as a child was demoloished!

Well here's a couple of my "Plaque Photos" from Thirsk celebrating 2 former Thirsk residents, Thomas Lord of "Lords Cricket Ground" fame, (but should it have an apostrophe as a consequence? the Plaque doesn't) and Alf White.....the "real" James Herriot.

I must go out looking for some around here Neil... I can't say as I've ever noticed any...

Never realised that was how Lords Cricket Ground got it's name :)

I must have seen the ones at Thirsk, we have been to Alf Whites surgery and the museum across the road but I have obviously forgotten them. We saw 'Skeldale house' last year but its nowhere Thirsk, it in the northern dales and its a B&B, we shall be up there again in a couple of weeks doing our compulsory visit to 'Beamish'

I will try and remember to take my camera - I don't have a smartphone, wouldn't know how to work it.

A "Notice" within a car brochure I came across.

Yes seems like the customer got a better deal in 1931 than in 2017

I wonder what the definition of a reasonable colour was?

I wonder if bright yellow would have been considered reasonable...

Possibly not Jim, back then I understand Ivory White was considered racy and slightly outrageous!

In my youth most cars were black or beige, it wasn't until the mid '50s that all these bright colours and two tones came out, I think the first were the 'Gaylook' Hillman Minx's, then in the late '50s the Vauxhalls came out in all sorts of outrageous colours, my first PA Velox was 'Mountain rose, Pink to you and me.

On 29th June 1927 this notice from the LNER mapped out the Total Eclipse.

Significance of this for Notices What Have You Spotted....

Have been to Richmond North Yorkshire loads of times but never knew that The AA placed signs along the path of totality and one still exists in Richmond.

Something to look out for and take an original photo of on another occasion.

Gosh, that's remarkable Neil!

I missed it in 1999 too :( I was away on a trip to the Far East at the time and saw nothing of it at all from Rangoon...

Plenty to take in before you boarded the Kylesku Ferry in 1968.

I remember boarding one of those ferries as it was leaving, egged on by the crew, they thoughtfully left the ramp down for me - but it must've been under 6" of water by the time I gained it.
