The "smaller" Tesla will be the Model S Jim, the bigger one will be the Model X which is the crossover SUV and having seen them both in person the X is absolutely humongous, to the point of being vulgar  But then again so is the BMW X5 (?) which is just as big and almost the same size and shape. Not my thing at all.

However the Model S is a hatchback and is only "large" instead of humungous, and I can't agree with you on that one - I rather like the styling of the Model S and think it still looks great 5 years later.

It does border on "hey look at me aren't I fancy" styling which would make me a little uncomfortable driving one at first but probably not for long.

A bit like I felt a bit uncomfortable being very early on the iPhone adoption curve - I had one in 2008 back when nobody had smart phones of any description, when people thought you were trying to be fancy by having one - but I just liked the technology I didn't buy it to be any kind of status symbol, and years later everyone has them and they are accepted as a normal thing you just have.

The same would be the case if I had the wherewithal to buy a Tesla one day - I would buy it for the technology and driving experience and because I want to drive an EV, not because I saw it as any kind of status symbol, although I'm sure other people might not see it that way.

Interestingly they had a greater range than any electric van currently on the market and a larger load space.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they were the ones - even though I haven't seen one since 1954. Our milk and bread was also delivered in electric vans back then.

S for .... Yea, well. Sorry but I will hold my view... It looks utterly awful... But then, that's me as I consider the vast majority of modern cars do...

All the rest of your views I totally agree with Simon :)

Came back to the car today and a BMW I3 had parked next to me. It may even have been a "Fluid Black" one!

My first impressions of the look of the I3 at close quarters is towards the "utterly awful" end of the "utterly awful-absolutely gorgeous" spectrum.

Then again maybe it's an acquired taste, and put a bit of two-toneage on it and you never know, and it does come in a solar orange too :-D

Some better pictures of the Harrods delivery van.
It's top speed is low, but realistic for London and its range matches most of the current commercial offerings.

Thanks for the info on the Harrods van, interesting that, they were certainly still about in the '50s when I worked in Cheapside, nice to see one again.

In service through till 1970? That's a fair old run, and a good advertisement for the possible reliability of an electric drivetrain!

They can live for a very long time... Witness London Underground Tube Stock... The Northern Line ran 1938 stock until 1988 and some are still at work on the Isle of Wight railway as Class 483!

Can't see the modern 'leccy cars like the Leaf lasting that long though... Too much electronics to go wonky!

I was over on I.O.W. yesterday, and the Underground trains are still in usage.

They are speaking of replacing them soon James but we all know what the word soon means in such a context - maybe within the next ten years

Spotted a BMW i3 stopped outside the school I work at today - I have to say that I find it neither attractive or ugly. It has a kind of quirkiness to it that would appeal to some people and not others, including no B pillar and suicide doors at the rear!

Seem to be a lot of parents that own EV's... I've now seen on a fairly regular basis a Black Tesla Model S, White Tesla Model X, Zoe, and now this BMW i3 dropping off kids at school...

I followed TE55 LAX again last night half way home from work - I suspect this is same one I followed home a few months back under its original plate.

Who's going to be first to see an E-car on a 67?

I love that registration plate :) That has to worth a bob or two...

Not seen any 67 plates yet despite having gone out for a run and a swim...
