Keep thoughts of selling the Activa far away, when i was chatting to a few people at the CCC meet up most i spoke to had at some point owned an Activa, and like my self they regret ever selling it and wish they had kept it. It would take a lot for me to let go of my 3rd Activa and still i kick my self for letting go of my last one its not a mistake i intend on repeating.
whats it worth? or why did i sell.........;)

Re: whats it worth?
My biggest regret in terms of cars I sold is my yellow 1981 MiniMetro HLE. Sold for all the right reasons, but I still kick myself for it.
Closely following that is my Lada Niva, and my Renault 25 Monaco. The latter I only drove twice!

Re: whats it worth?
So that's two of us who regret selling Metros then... I had five, two of which were MGs, one a Vanden Plas, a K-Series engined one before it was known as the Rover 100 and the Turbo... The Turbo was just amazing and a real hoot to drive
I still miss that car now, even after 30 years... I'm shocked it was that long ago...

Re: whats it worth?
I'd dearly love to find another one. Got to be a first generation (<1985 I think) car though, far preferred that to the later one with the revised interior. For all the later K-series engined ones go well, just never felt like a proper Metro the couple I've driven.
They don't half fetch good money now though!
Only had a very brief shot of a turbo one, and I do remember it being frankly ridiculous...putting that power in something that handled that we'll, surely couldn't be many things could touch it on a twisty road (Activa springs to mind!) with a good driver at the wheel.

Re: whats it worth?
That sums it up a treat Zel You're right, handling was awesome and little could keep up with it on twisty stuff, not even a 205GTi - if they tried too hard they ended up in the hedge - a victim of their terrible LOO
I agree about the early Metros. My first MG was an early one and the interior was much more stylish and purer than the later series 2. My Turbo was an series 2 and I was dismayed to see they'd deleted the roof-mounted LED boost gauge that was such a special feature of the series 1...
Just goes to show that in so many instances the original remains the very best and certainly had the most character...
Dad had a fairly base Metro on an X plate for a good few years... I was furious with him when he traded it in for a MKII Fiesta that totally lacked any character or charisma despite being competent...

Re: whats it worth?
I know somebody who had a Daihatsu Charade Turbo. The top speed was not very high (a little over 100MPH), but it did not take very long to get there! It was also VERY agile; I once say him whip around a bus and into a gap (with an oncoming vehicle) that would have made a motor cyclist wince, and he knew that he had plenty of time and space!

I've narrowed mine down to four. First up a 79 V plate Fiat Mirafiori 2.0 Twin Cam. Rot box? Yeah! Box of fun? Definitely! That 2.0 engine was absolutely astonishing. Not many survive and the good ones are at least £10k.
The second is the 75 N plate Wolseley 2200 (Think posh Princess). Gorgeous creamy straight six with all the toys of the time. I've been looking for one of these for the past four years without success, they are that rare.
Third is my first ever car. Cost me £50 and the bloke I bought it from asked me if I was interested in the Lotus version, but I just couldn't afford it So I bought the 69 G plate Ford Cortina 1.6GT. 1600E's fetch good money nowadays but the original 1.6GT with the clocks above the dash are seriously rare.
And lastly is the Volvo 164. I thought I had exactly the same car last year, a 70 H plate manual overdrive with twin Stromberg's. Needed a full job on it but I was certainly up for it. But the owner played silly buggers. It's still there, sat in a lock-up, and he still has no intention of doing owt with it. Shame!

Re: Re:
I also have regrets about selling that car. Overall it was the best Xantia I owned, the 2 V6s I have had since that one just don't seem quite the same. I don't suppose it is still in one piece.
I also regret selling a Jaguar XJ-SC V12 that I owned for a couple of years around 2000. It was a really nice car. A few years later I heard from a subsequent owner that it had rusted badly after I sold it, so maybe it was just as well that I did.

Re: Re:
No worries Mike, to be honest I often feel the loss of that particular V6... In retrospect It was the best one I ever had too...
Something very special about that one!

eddie. I've bought and sold all the cars in your list and at times used a few of them, I had for a time an Alfa Romeo 2 Litre GTV, I used it for about a year and loved it but the rust
I sold a black Ambassador to my mate, it was pristine, glistened in the sunlight but the fuel consumption was terrible.
Another mate who I used to sell a few cars for had a Lancia Beta Coupe, it was on my patch for a while then he dashed in one winter's day and said he was taking it to Leominster Auction, a Thursday evening do, when he got there he could hardly stand, the sun roof had leaked into the driving seat and he'd travelled 49 miles sitting on an ice block.
