I bought an LP in Sweden, "Fritt Fram" by Lill Lindfors (a Finnish woman living in Sweden but you would never know she wasn't Swedish), now a UN ambassador.

The LP had several surprises on it, none of which will get posted here as try as I might I have always been unable to find any on YouTube.

Aria was one of them and it was years before I discovered it was one of Acker Bilk's. Bought that album too.
Still have and play both LPs occasionally.

Try this Steve, I believe its Lill Lindfors singing "If I only had Time" in Swedish I presume.

When Youtube fails try Daily Motion no embedding just a link...found the entire film "Un Homme et Une Femme" there with its excellent soundtrack.

Could the Impala be the Chevrolet Impala, which did have considerable wings

When I read "we built this thing & it grew wngs" I immediately thought of the "Airmobile" in the late Chuck Berry's "You cain't catch me!

NOW the 1959 Impala - that had wings!

..and this little gem kicked off the Liza Tarbuck programme

and she followed it up with Julie London-An occasional man.

Never heard of her before and not one of her sultriest numbers but excellent nontheless.

There has been a BBC Four Documentary on her...."The Lady's Not a Vamp" worth watching, I'll put it on the On TV thread.

You can think of another!

Caught onto a song on the radio part of the way through, and it got me interested.

Some very strong guitar work, and a bluesy rhythm with a modern feel. Now the Arctic Monkeys may have been an outside guess. They create a storming rhythm to some of their tracks, but this was a bit different, but the vocalist wasn't quite right. As the track progressed I enjoyed it more and more and the guitar was absolute class.

So what was it. It was "The Land of Plenty" a new recording by.....

One of my all time favourites.......Robin Trower...he's been over in the US.

See if I can find it...Not sure if he would be all that flattered to think that one of his old fans thought his new track may have been the Arctic Monkeys :-D In my defence you never hear Robin Trower on the radio! normally.

but pronounced correctly.

Never realised 'til I saw the lyrics but, imagine Springsteen sings Dylan.

Oh, & spot the oblique reference to that man Commander Cody - again?

Pickled Egg Jukebox-Tintin lyrics The Blue Lotus

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Just discovered, that the Lyrics of the "Flower Duet" include "les lotus blues" the flower, not the car, or indeed the Tintin book!

Allons cueillir les lotus bleus- let us gather the blue lotus!

Absolutely stunning singing but you can't make out a single word they are singing!

Steve put this up first, I came across it on autoplay the other day, and it's here as an example of a song with a Tintin title in the lyrics! No apologies its absolutely gorgeous.
