Moved from the Citroen Technical Forum - Sorry to hear about your C5 - you may get some general advice concerning your Nissan, but we don't really do other makes here.

Look up 'How to clean the IACV' that's the most common reason for your fault.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

But it is French-ish surely!

Can't assist with the problem though, sorry.
I imagine a diagnostic session would be the first thing to try, might narrow down the possibilities.

Hi myglaren I tried running a diagnostic, no faults coming up so maybe a vaccuum leak, or faulty new TPS. she just isnt as talkative as a C5. I will keep trying, I think I will try to build a smoke machine and try to find a leak, if there is one. I am going to have to try to work blind on this one. Thanks guys if I make any progress I will let you know.

Idle between 1500 & 3500?
The engine shouldn't be idling that high anyway???

Hi Wurly, I know it sounds mental but its for the emmissions test it just keeps hunting up and down so they cant complete the test which means I cant get an NCT the same thing as an MOT just with a bit more beurocracy and non mechanic testers that can only follow the computer readout. But that aside she wont run steady and tends to hesitate and surge so not exactly safe to drive so I have it off the road at present. pain in te rear end. I have a loan of a pug 205 wich is a good little motor but uncomfortable for a 140 mile round trip to work.

Ah right, gotcha...
Have they not got a generic OBD diagnostic tester that can tell them what is going on?

Hi Wurly, yeah I have a delphi and wurth wow knock off which gives a good bit of info there is only one code for a knock sensor but that shouldnt cause this kind of issue should it ? unless it is preventing idle relearn but It was doing tis long before the knock sensor became an issue obviously it could have been failing but I think tere is another issue I ave attached some readings if someone can tell me if they look mental to them too. any ideas this is going on months now the car is off the road since march.

Hi John, I actually replaced the rubber boot between the Maf and throttle body and I have replaced the vaccuum lines could it be the sensor, I done a smoke test but couldnt see anything. I am beginning to think its electronic but cant be sure.
Thanks John by the way
