James, you have my full sympathies!
Sounds like you'd benefit from the same sort of cooling setup that I'm considering.

I love a bit of sun, it's been lovely today. It was 25c when I rode from Reading to Staines on my bicycle for work today! Got nice and sweaty, but that's the thing - the sweat keeps you cool, providing you drink enough fluid to sweat a lot.

27C forecast for here tomorrow...not looking forward to that! Suddenly €200 for a proper cooling vest is sounding like really good value for money. I'm from Aberdeen, I wasn't made to deal with this nonsense!
My dad bought one around 300 euros as his Parkinson's and Diabetes made it quite dangerous to go outside where he lived in Greece. It wasn't particularly effective.

Beat me to it, was about to suggest a vest.
I used to love the heat, years of being an adult and spending summer indoors working has ruined me. I reckon if I get my fitness back to where it should be I'll be heatproof again. That could take a while...

I used to be quite immune to temperature changes, but now just cannot take heat, if my house is warmer than 18° then sweat is lashing off me in buckets, but also i cannot take cold, if its less than about 15° then im running for the thermals. Its yet another symptom, along with many others, of what my doctor now calls fibromyalgia.I just call it fxxxxd!

This is what my doc diagnosed me with back in 2012. It's pretty unpleasant. I have found the best way to deal with it for me (I am aware it's different for everyone!) is to exercise hard, then I ache anyway, but feel better because of the exercise..

I think this is one of those areas where both technology has moved a pace in the last few years, and that not all are made equal.
The ones I'm looking at once activated hold themselves at roughly 15C for three hours or so, and reportedly do a pretty good job of it. Usefully you can also buy spare inserts, so it's quite possible to have two sets, one chilling and one in use. They also have a folder set, which get colder but don't last so long.
Clever chemistry witchcraft I say! Not complaining though as it's going to make my life easier...

Does that mean you ordered one? I can see this being quite funny. Got an imaginary Zel in my head running round looking for a woolly jumper when it's 30deg c.

I wish I could exercise Mike, due to the previous prolapsed discs and nerve damage makes any movement of legs, particularly left leg, and lower back very difficult and painful. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy to be honest. Id want him to have much worse

DG Solutions we've been using, Jim. Other than the fact that their head office never seem to actually speak to their sales team so everything takes three calls to do rather than one, I can't fault them.
While that's somewhat annoying in the short term, they're still ten times better to deal with than any other company who do this stuff that I've had to deal with before.

Poor you JamesNo wonder all the toffs looks so bloody miserable and behave so snottily... So would I if I was forced to wear all that... You'd never see me there.. If I can't go anywhere in jeans, tee and trainers I don't go there - full stop...
Me too Jim, though I have a good pair of roper boots that I sometimes wear! I went and replenished my wardrobe only yesterday at SportDirect
I do of course possess a good suit and shiny shoes. I bought the suit in 2008. I've worn it perhaps 10 times

Reminds me Mike, I need to go to Sports Direct soon to replenish my wardrobe... If my clothes don't come from there - most of them - then they come from Tesco... Tesco jeans suit me well. Sports Direct are unbeatable for teeshirts, sweatshirts and underwear I find... Footwear comes from Decathlon and I favour cheap running shoes for comfort and happy feet
