flat f**king battery

Unread post by meexi »

my Xantia had a flat battery that seems to be intermitant the only common denominator is that the alarm goes off and quickly flattens the battery. Has any one else had this problem?

yes, my v6 has done this twice, the reason was that it was parked with its nose way off the floor (over a wall) and the wind was blowing the car around setting off the alarm.

Try isolating the interior sensors by holding the switch in until the alarm indicator light comes on steady and then locking up as normal. If it cures the alarm triggering then it's the interior sensors that need changing.
A triggered alarm shouldn't flatten a good battery so check the negative lead back to where it connects with the engine. This is often just a crimped connection and causes quite a heavy voltage drop both when charging and especially when starting. Gives every symptom of a flat battery and reduces the charge voltage by as much as 1.5 volts. Robin

i had this the other day, is the red light coming on all the time, if so, depress the alarm off button the the right side of your steering wheel for a few seconds till green indicators flash.
